Amazon MGM Studios recently released a new trailer for Project Hail Mary, an upcoming science fiction adventure starring Ryan Gosling, who has been nominated for an Academy Award. The film will be released in theaters on March 20, 2026.
Ryland Grace, a science teacher played by Ryan Gosling, finds himself on a spaceship far from Earth with no memory of his past. As his memories return, he learns he’s on a crucial mission: to figure out why the sun is fading and find a solution to save Earth. He’ll need all his scientific skills and creativity, but he might not be alone in this fight thanks to an unlikely friendship.

What occurs in the new Project Hail Mary trailer?
The film stars Ryan Gosling as a molecular biology teacher selected for a crucial space mission: saving Earth from a failing sun. During his journey, he unexpectedly connects with a brilliant alien engineer he nicknames Rocky, discovering they share a common goal. Together, they collaborate to find a solution that could save both humanity and Rocky’s people. The trailer also showcases the movie’s exciting scenes of space travel.
The upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, is directed by the acclaimed team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and written by Drew Goddard. Starring Ryan Gosling, the movie also features a talented cast including Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Bastian Antonio Fuentes, Isla McRae, and James Wright.
As a huge sci-fi fan, I’m really excited about this new movie! It’s based on Andy Weir’s novel, the same author who wrote ‘The Martian,’ and the director, Goddard, has said that if you enjoyed Matt Damon’s performance in that film, you’ll probably love this one too – it has a similar feel. Plus, it’s got a fantastic team producing it, including Lord, Miller, Gosling, Weir himself, and Amy Pascal, so it’s shaping up to be something special.
