Sarah Lancashire’s return for Black Doves season 2 is confirmed as Netflix announce new cast

Netflix has announced that Sarah Lancashire will be back for another season of Black Doves. Production is already happening on the new season, and several new actors have joined the cast.

The first season of this highly praised Christmas spy series stars Keira Knightley as Helen Webb, a spy who’s been secretly sharing information from her politician husband with her organization, the Black Doves.

When Helen’s secret boyfriend, Jason, is murdered, her employer, Mrs. Reed, asks Helen’s friend Sam to protect her while they investigate who was responsible.

Season two will feature new cast members Ambika Mod as Laila, a sharp-tongued and rebellious agent for the Black Doves, and Babou Ceesay as Mr. Conteh, a Black Doves executive.

Sam Riley will also be joining the cast as Patrick, a representative from a secretive group, alongside Neve Campbell, known for her role in Scream, who will play Cecile Mason.

Returning for another season with stars like Lancashire, Knightley, and Whishaw are actors Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey, and Molly Chesworth.

I’m so excited for season two! It looks like Helen is going to be in a really dangerous spot, walking a tightrope as she keeps leaking secrets to the Black Doves. And to make things even more intense, her husband Wallace is about to become Prime Minister! I can’t wait to see how that all plays out.

When Helen’s mysterious caretaker, Mrs. Reed, becomes caught in a dangerous scheme to ruin her role within the Black Doves, Helen reconnects with her close friend, Sam.

A former top assassin now spends his days drinking alone in Soho bars and taking on small, poorly-paid jobs. While trying to figure out what went wrong, old alliances become dangerous, trust disappears, and protecting loved ones might mean losing everything.

Helen and Sam return in a thrilling new mission, facing both familiar allies and foes. They’ll confront difficult choices and past hurts as they get closer to uncovering the truth behind the Black Doves, all with the same sharp humor as the first series.

Joe Barton, the writer, creator, and executive producer, expressed his excitement about returning to the world of the show and its quirky spy family. He’s thrilled that many of the original cast members are back, and he’s also delighted to be working with some of his favorite actors. He jokingly predicts that things at Downing Street will never be the same.

Black Doves is available on Netflix, season 2 is on the way.
