The mobile game Digimon: Source Code is closing down, which is sad news for players who were hoping it would be released worldwide. The developers have announced that the game will no longer be available after January 26, 2026, marking the end of its run after a limited time in China.

Digimon: Source Code will no longer be available starting November 26, 2025. After this date, you won’t be able to download the game, create new characters, make purchases, or even access existing accounts. The game servers will permanently shut down on January 26, 2026.

The shut down of Digimon: Source Code might be attributed to poor performance

If you’ve been following this game for a while, the recent news might be especially disappointing, as Digimon: Source Code was in development for quite some time. It first launched a limited, private test in China in December 2021, offering players an early preview. Later, in July 2023, the game was showcased at the ChinaJoy gaming convention.

The mobile game officially launched in China in April 2025. It was created by Bandai Namco (Shanghai) and Kingnet, under the Bandai Namco brand, and was officially licensed by Toei Animation.

The game had some clever concepts. While it was fundamentally a turn-based RPG, the creators included exploration and idle game features to help players advance more easily. A particularly good part was the ability to explore the world without any restrictions on how far you could go.

Despite everything, the game is now closing down. Many players anticipated this, as low earnings had led to expectations of its closure even before it had been available for six months.
