Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater put split rumors to bed at Wicked: For Good premiere a year after he left his wife

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater seemed to dismiss rumors about a split on Monday night when they attended the premiere of Wicked in New York City.

The pop star, 32, and the actor, 33, appeared to be together and happy despite recent rumors that they were splitting up after a two-year relationship.

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater began dating while filming the upcoming two-part movie, Wicked, with the second part scheduled to be released on November 21st.

They were seen chatting and posing with their fellow actors on the red carpet at the recent premiere.

This news arrives over a year after Ethan’s divorce from Lilly Jay, his high school sweetheart, was finalized. They separated in 2023.

The exes share a three-year-old son, whom they welcomed in August 2022. 

Before Monday night, Ariana and Ethan hadn’t been seen together in months.

In October a source told Daily Mail that the two have been ‘on and off for most of this year.’

The news of their relationship came shortly after the singer had separated from her husband, Dalton Gomez, who is 30 years old, and while Ethan was still married to Lilly.

The singer, known for her song ‘Breathin’, faced accusations of being a ‘homewrecker’ while trying to explain her possible role in a romantic scandal.

Psychologist Lilly added to the speculation by sharing in a personal essay for The Cut that she was surprised and hurt by the relationship.

The woman described the aftermath of the separation as a deeply difficult time, feeling trapped and struggling to come to terms with the very public end of her marriage.

The couple, who fell in love while filming the movie Wicked abroad, attended several award shows together to promote it, including events at Palm Springs, the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, the SAG Awards, and the Oscars.

Before hitting the NYC premiere this week, they were last spotted together back in late April – they went to a preview of ‘Little Shop of Horrors,’ which sounds like a fun night out. It’s always nice to see a dad enjoying some quality time with a singer, especially at a show!

That also marked the last time Ethan was posted on Ariana’s Instagram grid.

A source told the Daily Mail last month that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have had an on-again, off-again relationship for much of the year.

They had a fight just a few days before the MTV VMAs, so he decided not to go with her. Luckily, they quickly resolved their issues, but their relationship has been somewhat inconsistent lately.

The insider revealed that the situation is quite unhealthy, but everyone involved is managing to maintain a facade of normalcy for the time being.

Their relationship will likely last only until the release of the movie Wicked: For Good. After that, it’s unlikely to continue, as it’s currently damaging for both people involved.

They were once in love and even talked about getting married, but that’s no longer an option. They quickly fell for each other when they first started dating, but that relationship is over now.
