TALON kicked from VCT Pacific, LCP due to “financial issues”

TALON Esports has been removed from both the VCT Pacific and LCP leagues due to consistently late payments to its players, according to Riot Games.

TALON Esports has been removed from both the VCT Pacific and League of Legends Champion Pacific (LCP) leagues due to financial problems. Riot Games announced that the organization couldn’t demonstrate it had enough money and had failed to pay its players on time, among other financial issues.

TALON no longer in VCT Pacific and LCP

VALORANT and League of Legends Esports jointly announced today that their partnership with Talon Esports has ended.

Riot Games learned about delayed player payments and other financial problems with TALON. They worked with TALON for over a month, giving them extra time to fix the issues. Unfortunately, TALON couldn’t meet the necessary requirements to remain a partner in the VCT.

Even with everything going on, Talon struggled to effectively run its teams. They didn’t meet the league’s requirements, with issues like consistently late player payments and a lack of proof they could financially support the team being specifically mentioned.

Riot Games has given the players on Talon’s VALORANT and League of Legends teams permission to look for new opportunities within the competitive gaming world. At the same time, Riot is searching for other teams to take Talon’s place in both leagues.

The organization is yet to release an official statement.

Talon in the LCP

PSG Talon, formerly known as Talon’s League of Legends team, gained prominence through their collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain. They were a leading team in the Pacific region during the PCS era and continued to compete strongly even after the rise of CTBC Flying Oysters. While they still participate in major international tournaments like this year’s Worlds, they haven’t been able to replicate the success of their peak, which was reaching the top four at MSI in 2021.

With the League roster being announced, several top players are now highly sought after. Karsa, a particularly skilled jungler, could significantly improve any team that signs him.

Talon’s VCT Pacific journey

This team was fairly average in the VCT league and hadn’t played many international tournaments. They only competed twice outside of the VCT Pacific region: at LOCK//IN 2023 in São Paulo and Champions 2024 in Seoul. They placed 5th-8th at LOCK//IN, and finished 13th-16th at Champions.

Honestly, TALON’s had some seriously good players come through over the years. I remember watching Primmie – he’s a free agent now, which is a shame – and PatMen, who absolutely crushed it at Masters Toronto with Paper Rex! Then there’s Patiphan, who used to dominate in Overwatch, but now he’s killing it in Apex. They really built a strong roster at times.
