Jessica Jones’ reason to return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

With Charlie Cox reprising his role in Daredevil: Born Again, a new clash with Wilson Fisk is anticipated. Producer Sana Amanat told Empire that the show’s second season was developed with “complete creative freedom.”

Amanat described the setting as wide open and freeing, saying it felt like anything was possible. The new season centers on Matt Murdock’s recovery after being shot while protecting Fisk, and his efforts to assemble a team of vigilantes.

During a recent interview with Empire, Amanat revealed that Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, is currently the Mayor of New York City and is more powerful than ever. He’s enacting a program called the “Safer Streets Initiative” aimed at stopping masked vigilantes.

She wondered if getting everything he desired would truly satisfy Fisk, then posed a question: if you give someone who always wants more their greatest prize, is that enough? Or will they end up destroying it? This shift in focus follows the changes made to the show after its first season, moving away from a simple, case-by-case format.

Krysten Ritter is back as Jessica Jones, and her return is driven by a very personal reason. According to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, Jessica isn’t one to easily join forces with others, making her involvement particularly meaningful. Rosenberg also highlighted that Jessica’s character offers a unique balance – she’s sharp and witty, providing a refreshing contrast to the often-intense drama of Daredevil. Her appearance directly connects her to the ongoing conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will continue the intense conflict in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in March 2026.
