TikTok star dead at 21 as boyfriend is arrested for first-degree murder

A TikTok star named Maurice Harrison died on Friday at age 21.

The popular social media personality known as @Girlalala was found with gunshot injuries inside a car.

Police in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida discovered the individual after receiving a report of a medical emergency, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, as reported by People magazine.

Harrison was taken to a local medical center, and later pronounced dead.

The hairstylist, known as a ‘wig influencer’ on TikTok, lived in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Shanoyd Whyte Jr. was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder using a firearm. He is currently being held in jail without the possibility of bail, according to People magazine.

Harrison has built a significant online following, with over 284,000 followers on TikTok and almost 42,000 on Instagram under the username @_girlalalala.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s office think Whyte Jr. and Harrison got into an argument inside Whyte Jr.’s car that eventually became a physical fight.

The suspect told detectives he and Harrison were in a relationship for ‘several years.’

‘At some point, the victim was shot while sitting in the car,’ the police statement noted.

A fundraising campaign to cover the victim’s funeral costs has exceeded expectations, raising over $28,000 – surpassing its $25,000 goal.

Among the donations was a $5,000 contribution from City Girls rapper JT, 32.

JT also honored Harrison with a post on Instagram, sharing a throwback video of them performing together at a nightclub.

She wrote a heartfelt message with the post, saying ‘Rest peacefully, beautiful girl! We all love you, and heaven will definitely be more lively with you there. We’ll miss your spirit, energy, funny personality, and beauty!’
