Overwatch 2 is getting a new hero, Vendetta, soon! We’ve got all the details on when you can expect to play as them, including the release date and time, plus a look at what Vendetta’s powers will be.
Okay, so Blizzard just dropped the news – Hero 45 for Overwatch 2 is Vendetta! They didn’t just announce her with a cool trailer, either. They also let us know when we’ll actually be able to play as her and start battling with her before Season 20 kicks off. I’m super hyped to try her out!
Overwatch 2 Vendetta release date
From November 26th to December 1st, Overwatch 2 players will have a chance to play as the new hero, Vendetta, in a special trial. After the trial, Vendetta will be fully released with the start of Overwatch 2 Season 20.
The Vendetta trial is scheduled to launch in Overwatch 2 on Wednesday, November 26th. While updates usually happen on Tuesdays or Thursdays, the timing suggests Hero 45 will likely be playable around 11 a.m. Pacific Time, according to Xpsp’s past experience with the game.

Overwatch 2 Vendetta abilities
Blizzard hasn’t shared all the details about Vendetta’s powers and how she’ll play yet. But the recent hero trailer shows she’s an Italian damage dealer who fights with a large sword, delivering powerful slashing attacks.
We’ve noticed that Hero 45 has a spinning attack similar to Whirlwind. Vendetta, meanwhile, can jump into the air and then strike downward with a strong, linear attack – it’s comparable to Sonya’s Leap ability in Diablo and Heroes of the Storm.
Overwatch 2 Vendetta lore and story
Vendetta’s backstory connects to the stories of both Blackwatch and Talon. The hero trailer features Gabriel Reyes (Reaper), along with Cassidy, Moira, and Genji. A key moment shows her father being thrown from a window after Gabriel eliminates him during the 2018 Retribution mission, visualized as a chess piece falling.
Now completely accepting her persona as “La Lupa,” or “The Wolf,” Vendetta focuses her anger and promises to get revenge for her father’s murder.
