Operation Tenfold Pursuit in R6 Siege X: Thatcher remaster and balance update

Rainbow Six Siege is getting some exciting updates this season! The developers are focusing on a complete overhaul of one of the maps, adjustments to balance the Operators, and better matchmaking for ranked play, among other improvements.

So, Ubisoft just dropped the details for Year 10 Season 4 of Rainbow Six Siege right before the big championship in Munich. Basically, they’re continuing their work to update the game, and a big part of that is making it easier for new players to jump in and have fun. It feels like they’re really focused on the future of Siege!

Thatcher is the next remastered R6 Siege Operator

Rainbow 6 Siege Operator Clash received a major update back in Year 10, Season 2. Now, Thatcher is getting the same kind of overhaul.

After a decade since the game’s launch, the developers selected him as one of its original and most recognizable characters to receive updated designs and features.

The main new features for the R6 Thatcher remaster are the following.

  • EGS Disruptor: This device can detect electronic gadgets through walls and other surfaces thanks to its Scanner. The second component, Launcher, shoots an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) to disable opponents’ gadgets for 15 seconds.
  • The PMR9A2 DMR, a new weapon for Thatcher: It’s a high-damage gun for shorter encounters.

The developers say the updates will only make Thatcher a better support character. We’ll be able to see if that’s true when Operation Tenfold Pursuit launches in Rainbow Six Siege.

Four primary weapons. The PMR982 for three more Operators

As part of the Thatcher remaster, R6 adds the new feature of sharing weapons between Operators.

  • The PMR9A2 is available for Thatcher and three other characters: Nøkk, Hibana, and Capitao.

In the future, shared weapons will be added for other R6 Operators, too.

Thatcher has been updated with a unique ability: he’s the first Operator who can equip four primary weapons – the L85A2, AR33, M590A1, and PMR9A2.

Balance update for R6 Siege X Operators in the new season

Changes we made to balance the game sparked some heated debates among players last year, especially regarding limb damage and the removal of scopes. The developers hope this next update will be a welcome improvement, unlike some of the previous changes, and will be received with positivity rather than frustration – that’s their goal, at least.

Season 4 and the new Operation Tenfold Pursuit will bring important adjustments to balance the Operators in Rainbow Six Siege.

  • Mute: He has two armor and two speed stats. The Signal Disruptor gets an increased radius, but it works differently.
  • Aruni: Surya Gate is disabled within the range of EMP and needs to be shot at to get back to work.
  • Castle: His panels are electrifiable.
  • Thermite gets an additional Exothermic Charge to have three in total and a secondary shotgun.
  • Maverick: No pause is needed to cool down and reload his Breach Torch. The Operator gets frag grenades and Reaper MK2 as his secondary weapon.
  • Hibana: There’s no need to reload the X-KAIROS between shots. The Type 89 AR has reduced recoil, and Claymores are available as secondary options.
  • Ace receives Stun Grenades and changes to stats. Starting from the R6 Tenfold Pursuit, Ace has three points of armor and one of speed.

This update significantly changes how we approach the DSEG System, which manages disabled states for electronic devices.

  • Mute’s Signal Disruptor is no longer EMP. It affects both the source and the endpoint of the signal. For example, Thermite can’t send a signal to an Exothermic Charge if the Operator himself is in the range of the Signal Disruptor.
  • All standard weapon sights are now considered electronic and will be disabled for the duration of an EMP effect.

Ranked matchmaking

With Operation Tenfold Pursuit, R6 Siege X receives visual rank matchmaking in the Ranked playlist.

  • Players are matched against opponents with a similar visual rank and skill.

The developers explain that new players starting their competitive season at the Copper 5 rank won’t be paired with those who have been playing at that rank for a while.

When does R6 Operation Tenfold Pursuit start?

Season 4 on the game’s Year 10 and the R6 Operation Tenfold Pursuit start on Dec. 2.

New Fortress and modernized Skyscraper with Theme Park

Fortress, the R6 map, is getting a major update in Season 4 to meet current design standards. The rework includes new rooms and objects. Starting with Operation Tenfold Pursuit, you’ll be able to play Fortress in Ranked matches and see it featured in professional esports competitions.

The first look at the new Fortress was in the show match during the Munich Major 2025.

Following the improvements made throughout Year 10, Season 4 now features updated and more visually appealing versions of the Skyscraper and Theme Park maps.

Battling cheaters

A major focus of the new season of Rainbow Six Siege is combating cheating. Game director Joshua Mills expressed his strong disapproval of cheaters, even using a profanity when discussing the issue.

So, the devs have said they’re planning to roll out two ShieldGuard updates every week, not just during the new Operation Tenfold Pursuit, but going forward too. That’s awesome for keeping things balanced and fixing bugs quickly!

Training with bots to improve skills and learn the game

Rainbow Six Siege X is becoming easier to learn thanks to new training features. Players can now practice against AI opponents, exploring maps, trying out weapons, and familiarizing themselves with key locations. The game also lets you team up with AI bots, creating a realistic practice experience similar to playing against other players.

We’re anticipating the next major update to launch around the time students start Year 11. Given the developers typically announce these things at big international gaming events, it will likely be revealed at Six Invitational 2026, which runs from February 2nd to 15th.
