Inside Kelly Brook’s disastrous six-day stint on Britain’s Got Talent: Amanda Holden’s telling comments revealed job was doomed BEFORE she sparked a 16-year feud with Ant and Dec

Kelly Brook wasn’t most worried about the bugs, the skydive, or the small meals when she joined ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ on Sunday night – she was actually dreading seeing Ant and Dec again.

Kelly has openly admitted she still resents Ant and Dec, the hosts of the show, due to a disagreement that began 16 years ago when she briefly appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.

She briefly served as a judge in 2009, but was removed from the panel after only six days. Reports claimed Ant and Dec were behind the decision, allegedly because she wasn’t familiar with their work on the show, which caused a personality conflict.

The model and actress claimed her career was ruined by them, stating after being let go that she felt unable to work in the UK following her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.

‘The people at ITV were telling me that I had upset Ant and Dec and that was it.’

Although some people blame Ant and Dec for her departure, fellow judge Amanda Holden suggested that the show was always likely to replace any young female judges with new ones, alongside Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan.

Before Kelly joined the show, she told the Mirror she enjoyed being the only woman among the male judges. She described a playful and flirty atmosphere, jokingly calling the men ‘naughty boys’.

I told Simon that if he ever brought in someone younger than me, I would quit the show. I’d rather leave than work with someone less experienced.

I couldn’t believe it when Simon actually did it! After all his talk, he went and hired Kelly – she’s so much younger than Amanda, nine years to be exact – and made her the fourth judge! It was a total shock, but honestly, I was thrilled. She’s amazing, and it completely changed the dynamic of the show!

She was told her position was eliminated because the show’s format was considered too complex with four judges.

Looking back, when Alesha Dixon came on board, there was a bit of tension – it definitely seemed like Amanda made a not-so-subtle comment about Kelly’s smarts. It was a tricky moment, and honestly, a little awkward to watch!

When asked about Alesha’s new position, the speaker said, ‘You’ll need to check with Simon, as he was the one who hired her. However, I suspect she’s moved on to something else – she’s very intelligent.’

Yet there seems to be no bad blood between Amanda and Kelly, who now work together on Heart FM.

The same cannot be said for Kelly and Ant and Dec, however.

In their 2010 book, Dec openly discussed the disagreement, stating he never understood why Kelly was chosen for Britain’s Got Talent.

In his memoir, Ooh! What a Lovely Pair: Our Story, he recalled Kelly seeming anxious, so he reassured her that they would have a good time and encouraged her to calm down.

She nodded and then asked what my role was on the show. I glanced at Simon, who was sitting beside me. He turned to Kelly and asked if she’d seen it before. She admitted she’d only caught parts of it.

I don’t mean to brag, but the only person who’s ever asked me “What do you do?” was the Queen – she asked me when I met her at ITV’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Later in their book, the pair admitted they were frustrated that no one asked their opinion before adding Kelly Brook to the show. As Dec explained, they wondered, “Why a fourth judge?” and, specifically, “Why Kelly Brook?” But no one could give them a satisfactory answer.

As the show’s hosts, we needed to explain Kelly’s involvement to viewers, but no one offered a convincing reason for why she was participating.

Simon made the decision on his own, without consulting anyone, and we didn’t think it was a good one.

Kelly soon hit back saying: I would love to have stayed on the show…

I thought things were going well, but it became clear that Ant and Dec didn’t want me to be part of the show, despite always being friendly to me directly.

They were deeply offended that I was on their show, essentially feeling I didn’t deserve to be there. Since then, they haven’t been shy about expressing their disapproval of me.

She also criticized Ant and Dec for including her in their book, stating, ‘Good luck to them—they’re successful and happy. But they won’t appear in my autobiography, even though I’m mentioned in theirs!’

After the show, Kelly criticized Simon for how he had treated her, claiming he was disrespectful.

The British model told the Sunday People that the person in question would simply arrive whenever he pleased, acting as if the event revolved entirely around him. She described his behavior as a disrespectful joke, not only to her but also to Amanda and Piers.

I always dreamed of being an actress, but I ended up as a judge on a reality show, which wasn’t what I wanted. When Simon told me it was over, I accepted it and used my earnings to return to the United States.

People always assumed I was the one pursuing Simon, really wanting to be part of the show, but honestly, it was the opposite! He actually reached out to me the day before and asked if I’d be interested in joining him.

Piers finally spoke out about the controversy on Monday, posting an old photo of himself with Kelly from when they were both on the show.

Remember when Kelly Brook was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent? It didn’t last long – only two days, and it was a bit of a disaster! Now she’s heading into the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

It’ll be interesting to watch how she gets along with Ant and Dec, considering she still believes they were responsible for her quick and harsh dismissal – and she has a point.

The team was upset that Simon Cowell hadn’t asked for their input before hiring Kelly, and they were even more frustrated when Kelly then questioned them about their roles on the show.

I’m A Celebrity continues at 9pm on ITV and ITVX
