The fan who aggressively approached Ariana Grande at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good has been sentenced to jail, according to reports.
Johnson Wen, a 26-year-old Australian man famous online as ‘Pyjama Man’ for his pranks, has been sentenced to nine days in jail.
The Straits Times reports that the judge stated Wen intentionally committed the act to gain attention on social media.
Wen was also called by prosecutors a ‘serial intruder,’ the site added.
The judge was clearly bothered by Wen’s repeated harassment of celebrities. According to reports, the judge told Wen that their actions appeared to be motivated by a desire for attention, with no regard for the well-being of those they targeted.
On Thursday, Wen bypassed security at Universal Studios and quickly approached Ariana Grande, putting his arm around her even as she tried to get free.
Cynthia Erivo reacted instantly, yelling at the intruder and stepping in front of Ariana Grande as security guards quickly subdued and removed him. Grande appeared very upset and shaken after the incident.
Several hours later, Wen posted a disturbing selfie showing them with wide, excited eyes, gesturing towards a poster of Ariana Grande and claiming, ‘I finally got to see Ariana Grande tonight!’

Now Wen has been hit with a public nuisance charge, according to the BBC.
According to local news, Wen attended a court hearing by video on Friday without a lawyer and plans to admit guilt. If convicted, he could face a fine of up to $1,540.
Following the event, Wen shared a video online expressing his excitement about meeting Ariana Grande, saying, ‘I always dreamed of meeting her, and it finally happened!’ He then ended with a slightly unsettling laugh: ‘Hee-hee-hee heeeeee.’
He shared the video of the red carpet incident online, writing, ‘Thanks, Ariana Grande, for letting me join you on the yellow carpet!’
Fans were furious, flooding social media with their outrage.
Someone expressed strong disapproval, calling the situation ‘sick’ and saying it spoiled a long-awaited experience for fans. They also suggested it endangered people, all due to someone’s excessive pride, and urged the person responsible to get professional help.
Another slammed him: ‘You literally assaulted her. This isn’t a flex, it’s a crime. Shame on you!’
People pointed to Ariana Grande’s difficult past, including the bombing in Manchester and the death of her former partner, Mac Miller, saying the current situation was deeply disrespectful. Many expressed anger, stating it wasn’t fair to her, the cast, or the fans, and called for an apology.
One fan confronted him about his behavior, asking, ‘Are you satisfied now? Do you enjoy upsetting celebrities? It’s really disappointing.’
Wen is well-known for bothering celebrities, and has even posted videos online of him approaching Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers at their concerts.
I was shocked to hear they’d charged him again after what happened at Perry’s Sydney show back in June. Apparently, he’s facing charges for trespassing – being on the concert grounds without permission – and for interfering with the performers while they were doing their job. It’s just… a lot.
Wen was also prohibited from entering the Sydney Olympic Park area for six months.

He was fined $250 in 2020 for hanging off a footbridge in Brisbane and another $220 in 2021 for running onto the field during a rugby union game.
His Instagram profile describes him as the ‘most hated troll’ and identifies him as the person who ran onto the field during the 2023 World Cup Final.
He told 9News at the time he did it for fun and loves the rush of stage crashing.
Wen explained that he asked to join Katy Perry on stage, but she became alarmed when she realized he wasn’t part of the show. He was planning to show off some Fortnite dance moves, but security intervened before he could.
Despite claiming he poses no danger, Wen has carried out intrusions at major sporting events, including the Olympics in Paris, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Cricket World Cup final in India.
He explained that immediately after entering India and being tackled, he found himself in a difficult situation.
Wen, currently unemployed and previously staying at a hostel, reportedly owes $20,000 in fines, as stated in a recent report.
He announced he was done with disruptive behavior at events, explaining, “I’m stopping for good because it causes too many problems, and after doing it repeatedly, I’m especially likely to get in trouble.”

Last December, a fan named Wen rushed the stage during The Chainsmokers’ performance at the Palm Tree Festival in Sydney. Security guards tried to stop him by grabbing his legs.
Then in August, the Instagrammer invaded The Weeknd’s stage at his Melbourne show.
The singer lost his ear piece as he tried to release himself from Wen, who had grabbed hold of him.
Even though fans were furious, Wen wasn’t sent to jail on Thursday, at least not yet. He later shared that he was ‘free’ after security guards physically removed him from the red carpet.
After being helped at the ‘Wicked’ premiere, Ariana Grande looked upset and took several deep breaths as she walked with Cynthia Erivo.
Ariana Grande has openly discussed her battle with PTSD following the 2017 bombing at her concert in Manchester, which tragically resulted in 22 deaths.
In a 2018 interview with British Vogue, she discussed experiencing PTSD, saying, ‘It’s definitely real. I know many of my fans and the families affected went through a lot of trauma as well.’
It’s difficult to put into words, especially knowing how much pain others have experienced. I almost feel like my own feelings aren’t important enough to share, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to talk about this properly.
In the same interview, she opened up about her ongoing struggles with anxiety.

Many people struggle with anxiety, and it feels especially prevalent these days. Sometimes my anxiety is so intense, it feels like a separate worry on top of the original one. I’ve dealt with anxiety for as long as I can remember.
I hadn’t talked about it much, assuming it was something everyone experienced, but it really hit me hard when I returned from tour – it was the worst it had ever been.
In 2020, Ariana Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun, shared that she was still dealing with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder three years after the Manchester bombing.
He said: ‘When she found out that fans of hers had died she was so sad.
She was heartbroken and cried for days, deeply affected by every announcement and every name shared. She simply couldn’t hide her feelings – that’s just the kind of person she is.
He remembered that visiting the families in the days following the attack were the most difficult two hours for both of them.
Helping the first family was incredibly difficult for both of us. We were both really upset, and it was a very challenging experience. But whenever things got really hard, we comforted each other by remembering we would eventually be able to go home.
