Amber Sherlock has been spotted out and about after being quietly axed by Channel Nine last week.
The popular weather presenter, best known for a memorable on-air disagreement – quickly nicknamed ‘Jacketgate’ – about a colleague’s white jacket, has left her position after 18 years. Reporter Sophie Walsh has taken over her usual slot.
The 49-year-old has been seen in public again after suddenly leaving Australian television, with the reason for her departure still unknown.
Amber was dressed to impress, likely on her way to a job interview, as she left her home in the upscale Mosman neighborhood of Sydney.
She wore a stylish navy blue midi dress with a tie at the waist, and completed the look with matching navy heels.
The media personality wore her brown hair down and kept her makeup natural. She then put on sunglasses, hoping to avoid being recognized.

She completed her classic outfit with a $2,267 leather bag by Salvatore Ferragamo, carrying it over her shoulder.
As a longtime fan, it was really interesting to hear Amber speak out on Friday. It felt like she was subtly addressing Channel Nine, especially considering how suddenly her departure was announced just the night before. It’s been a bit of a shock for all of us who followed her work there!
The 9News Sydney weather presenter spoke out on Instagram, responding to the recent job cuts at Nine with a detailed post.
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 20 years! Honestly, being welcomed into your homes every night has been such an incredible honor for me. It truly means the world.
Throughout my career, starting as a finance journalist and including roles like the first newsreader on Weekend Today, I’ve had the chance to present nearly every type of news broadcast – from morning and afternoon updates to the 6pm and late-night news.
I recently joined the 6pm Sydney news team, working with Peter Overton and James Bracey.
Sherlock shared a photo with her message, showing her happily posing with her co-stars, Peter Overton and James Bracey, at the news desk.
As a longtime viewer, I’m so proud to say we’ve consistently been the top-rated news source in Sydney for the past 15 years, and it’s all thanks to the incredible work of the entire news team!

I’ve been lucky enough to make friends for life, share so many good times, and celebrate important moments over the years.
After thirty years working in Australian television, I’ve learned that hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude are key to success. I’ve always believed that putting in the effort will ultimately lead to good results.
Although I had other job options, I think it’s the right time to move on and pursue something new.
Sherlock explained she enjoyed brightening up news updates and playfully noted that Australians are very interested in the weather.
She also honored Livinia Nixon, her colleague in Melbourne, who recently left the network. Then, she criticized Nine for ending a long tradition of having committed, full-time weather presenters.
It appears the traditional role of dedicated 6pm weather presenters is coming to an end, with many organizations now opting for simpler broadcasts. She also wished anyone attempting to navigate the newly redesigned Bureau of Meteorology website the best of luck.
I also really enjoyed the excitement and pressure of delivering the news. I most recently worked on the Late News program, where I was part of a small team reporting on events from across the country.
‘I already have some exciting projects on the go, which I’ll share with you soon.
I’m really enjoying spending time with my family and friends – afternoons at home and weekend barbecues especially. I’m looking forward to what happens next and embracing this new phase of life.
