Karen Huger was seen in public again this weekend, marking her first appearance since being released from prison two months prior.
Gizelle Bryant, 62, a star on The Real Housewives of Potomac, received a standing ovation from fans at BravoCon in Las Vegas on Friday. The moment happened during a segment called BravoCon Live with Andy Cohen Presents: The Bravos, which focused on awards and highlights.
The reality star, originally from Surry, Virginia, presented an award to Phaedra Parks of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ recognizing her for delivering the most memorable and witty commentary on television.
Gizelle Bryant of ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ expressed her gratitude to NBCUniversal and Bravo TV in a recent Instagram post, telling her followers she felt incredibly welcomed and had a full heart.
I have to say, the outfits I wore to the event were absolutely stunning, and a huge thanks goes to designer Charles Elliott Harbison! He really has an incredible eye and put everything together beautifully. I felt so confident and chic thanks to his work.
I want to sincerely thank my team, and a special thank you to @charlienchargie & @harbison.studio, who designed the first of my three outfits for this event. Their work was truly thoughtful!

He really understood what I was hoping to achieve and beautifully captured my personality. His creative work helped create something new and authentic, and I’m so thankful to have him and his team involved in this exciting new phase of my journey.
Huger was originally sentenced to a year in jail, but she was released from the Montgomery County Detention Center after serving six months in September, following her 2024 conviction for driving under the influence.
At a convention in Las Vegas on Friday, Huger announced she would be interviewed by Andy Cohen to discuss her personal experiences.
In a clip from the upcoming season 10 finale, Cohen told Huger, ‘You’re a free woman.’
On December 19, 2024, Huger, known as ‘Grand Dame,’ was found guilty of driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while intoxicated (DWI), as well as speeding and driving with a suspended vehicle registration. She was also convicted for not updating her address with the authorities, though a reckless driving charge was dropped.
Following a Maryland jury’s guilty verdict on most of the charges related to the incident – though she wasn’t convicted of reckless driving – Huger entered a recovery program in Florida.
Huger explained she went to understand the reasons behind her use of antidepressants and alcohol.
Her time in rehab caused a delay in her sentencing and prevented her from participating in the Real Housewives of Potomac season nine reunion.

Huger later addressed her fans in a video, discussing her alcohol use and clarifying that she didn’t believe she had an addiction.
In a recent clip, Huger firmly stated she is not an alcoholic. She also shared that she was devastated when the jury found her guilty last December, saying her ‘heart dropped’ at the news.
In the videos, Huger stated she took complete responsibility for the events surrounding her car accident, and described the experience as ‘very frightening’.
Huger said she was devastated about the impact the accident had on her family.
Honestly, it wasn’t about me in that moment. All I could think about was my kids and my family – seeing them so heartbroken just completely consumed me. Their pain was all that mattered.
According to reports, actress Niecy Nash-Huger was involved in a car accident in Maryland in March 2024. She drove through the center divider and hit several street signs, but was not hurt, officials said.
Oh my gosh, they finally released the bodycam footage from when they arrested him last March! I’ve been waiting forever to see exactly what happened, and now we can all see it for ourselves. It’s just… everything. I’ve rewatched it like, five times already!
After the incident, Karen’s husband, Ray Huger, helped her when questioned by the police.

Karen was asked, ‘Do you remember the accident?’ to which she said, ‘Yes.’
The officer asked her, ‘What happened?’ and she said, ‘Nothing really.’
Ray told his wife that someone had forced her off the road. She confirmed this happened, but couldn’t recall who was driving the other car.
Karen didn’t directly answer officers’ questions about how much she’d had to drink that night, and instead suggested they ask Ray.
Ray was suggesting they think I had too much to drink, and he figures I probably had a beer or two.
Let me tell you, I was on the scene and spoke with Karen after her Maserati unfortunately sustained damage to the driver’s side. When I asked if she was okay, and if there was anything else she wanted to add, she simply said, ‘Yes, that’s all I had.’ It was a really heartbreaking moment, and it just goes to show you, things can change in an instant.
As a longtime fan, I was really affected when Andy Cohen spoke about Ramona Singer’s situation last year. He said he found it all incredibly sad, and honestly, that resonated with me. He admitted he hadn’t fully come to terms with it, and I feel the same way – it’s just a really sad situation all around.
You can watch The Real Housewives of Potomac on Bravo Sundays at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock.
