Sources at Variety have confirmed that Millie Bobby Brown ultimately filed a complaint against her co-star, David Harbour, despite some initial hesitation.
I was pretty shocked when the Daily Mail ran a story about this young actress accusing David Harbour, her on-screen dad, of harassment and bullying – apparently it was a really detailed account. What made me raise an eyebrow, though, was learning the source was a friend of Harbour’s ex, Lily Allen. Their breakup was supposedly pretty messy, and then Allen just happened to release a very personal album around the same time. It all felt a little…convenient, like maybe this whole thing was also about getting attention for her music. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.
The timing of these rumors couldn’t have been worse for Netflix, which was about to release the final season of its popular show. Soon after the rumors began, Netflix held a premiere event where stars Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour seemed relaxed and at ease with each other.

Now we know, however, that this wasn’t always the case.
The Timeline is Unclear
The exact timing of Brown’s complaints is unclear. According to Deadline, there was a disagreement between Brown and Harbour, and she did raise concerns about his behavior. However, it likely happened earlier in the show’s production, not as recently as reported. Sources say the issue was addressed and hasn’t resurfaced.
Given that Stranger Things has been filming since 2016, when Millie Bobby Brown was just 12, any disagreements between her and David Harbour likely resolved themselves a long time ago, before the story appeared in the Daily Mail. Brown recently told ExtraTV that she and Harbour are fortunate to have each other.

According to sources who are familiar with the situation, Netflix investigated complaints made by Millie Bobby Brown at one point. More significantly, the issues involving David Harbour were successfully resolved. Details of both matters are being kept private, and neither Netflix nor the actors’ representatives are commenting publicly.
Netflix likely wants to quickly resolve this issue so it doesn’t distract from the upcoming season of Stranger Things, which will be released later this month.
All We Can Know for Sure
Although those connected to the situation aren’t commenting, The Hollywood Reporter did ask Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer about the claims.
Ross Duffer explained that he couldn’t discuss specific issues that happened on set, but emphasized that the cast has become like family after working together for ten years. He said their priority is always making sure everyone on set feels safe and happy.

Director and executive producer Shawn Levy addressed recent rumors, saying many reports are inaccurate and there’s a lot of misinformation. He emphasized that the cast and crew are like family and are always treated with respect, which is a core principle for them.
Okay, good news for all of us Stranger Things fans! There was a bit of worry there for a while, but it looks like everything’s back on track. We can finally mark our calendars – the first part of season five drops on November 26th! I’m so relieved and excited!
