The upcoming Harry Potter TV series is expected to feature actor Bill Nighy in a starring role.
The famous British actor, age 75, was quietly contacted by the team behind the HBO series, which began filming in August.
It’s understood that Bill has taken part in screen tests to play a Hogwarts potions master role.
I was so thrilled to hear that one of my favorite actors from Love Actually is going to be voicing a character in the new Harry Potter audiobooks! It’s such a fantastic pairing, and I can’t wait to hear what they do with it.
According to a source, Bill secretly did a screen test for the part last month and was very excited about it.
According to sources, everyone involved – including the individual in question and the team making the Potter project – is eager to move forward. Now, they’re just waiting for the official contracts to be finalized.

‘It will be a real coup to have Bill join a stellar cast.’
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Bill for comment.
Bill had previously expressed his enthusiasm about joining the new audio drama. He mentioned he was happy to be cast as the professor, especially since he’d previously played a magical minister.
‘I’m always grateful when asked to play academics, having not been further educated myself.’
Bill previously starred in the original movies, playing minister for magic Rufus Scrimgeour.
Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter in the upcoming production, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The cast also includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser – famous for playing Qyburn in Game of Thrones – as Garrick Ollivander.
Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby were announced the Mr and Mrs Dursley earlier this year.

Award-winning actress Janet McTeer will play Professor McGonagall, and talented newcomer Paapa Essiedu will take on the challenging role of Severus Snape, previously made iconic by Alan Rickman.
Actor and comedian Nick Frost will play legendary Hogwarts groundskeeper Hagrid in the adaption.
Actor Johnny Flynn, age 42, has been cast as Lucius Malfoy, the father of Draco Malfoy, a role previously played by Jason Isaacs in the films.
Emmy winner John Lithgow has also signed on the dotted line to play Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
Katherine Parkinson, age 47, will portray Molly Weasley, the mother of Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny.
Filming for the Harry Potter series on HBO started up again this week, with actors shooting Quidditch scenes at the beautiful and historic Ashridge Estate.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe who I saw on set today! It was Dominic McLaughlin – seriously, he is the perfect Mr. Darcy – and he was filming scenes with Louise Brealey, who is just amazing as Madam Hooch! And get this – Rory Wilmot was there as Neville Longbottom, looking so grown up, and even Lox Pratt was there playing Draco Malfoy! I nearly fainted, it was incredible! Seeing them all together on the grounds of the estate… a dream come true!
This location echoes the past, as it was also used to film the Quidditch World Cup scene in the 2005 movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
