Jelly Roll shaves beard for first time in 10 years as wife Bunnie XO’s reaction is priceless

Jelly Roll is trying a new look amid his 200lb weight loss journey.

The musician, age 40, recently shaved off his beard after ten years, and his wife, Bunnie Xo, age 45, shared a photo of the new look on social media. He is currently on tour in Australia.

The podcaster shared a story on Instagram this week, explaining that after nearly ten years of marriage, she’s never seen her husband without a beard or mustache. She emphasized that he’s always had facial hair, without exception.

Okay, so here’s a fun little thing happening at my house! My husband just finished a photoshoot, and to celebrate – and honestly, show off his amazing results – he’s decided to shave off his beard. He’s been working hard and has really defined his jawline, and we both think it’s time to show it off! It’s all about embracing a fresh look and feeling confident, and we’re excited to see the transformation.

Before getting rid of his facial hair, Jelly Roll playfully suggested he was considering a facelift.

Bunnie insisted she wouldn’t look until every strand of hair was gone, repeatedly saying, ‘I’m not looking, okay?’

Okay, so he tried to give me a sneak peek, can you believe it? But honestly, I told him I refuse to look until the whole thing is finished and perfect. And then – get this – he literally kicked me out of the room! Can you even imagine? It’s like he doesn’t want me to see his genius unfold! I’m dying to know what it is, but I’m sticking to my guns. No peeking until it’s completely done, even if it means getting the boot!

Bunnie came back to find her husband had grown a mustache – he’d gone from a goatee to a thick, police-style mustache, which she thought was very handsome.

She complimented her longtime love, telling him he looked ‘so fine’ and branding them both ‘fire.’

Once he had shaved completely, she was shocked and covered her mouth, saying, ‘His bare face isn’t bad at all.’

The couple then used FaceTime to show their family and friends the singer’s new look, and they shared everyone’s surprised responses.

One person said, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna cry,’ and another added, ‘What the f***? I am scared.’

However, Jelly Roll — real name Jason DeFord — has not debuted his hairless face online yet.

Okay, so everyone’s been asking about when ‘he’ is going to share something, and I just saw Bunnie post online saying he’ll reveal it when he’s ready. It’s sweet and supportive – she’s letting him take the lead and announce things on his own time, which is always a good approach! It’s all about respecting his process, and she added a little heart, which is just lovely.

This follows Jelly Roll showing off his weight loss during his time as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The musician has been steadily losing weight, and last December, he announced his goal of appearing on the cover of Men’s Health magazine.

He revealed on his wife’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, that his new goal is to appear on the cover of Men’s Health magazine by March 2026.

The star declared: ‘I wanna have one of the biggest transformations.’

He added that he was ‘so glad’ to be having the discussion in front of an audience.

I shared this openly intentionally. I want to be honest with people about the difficulties I’ve been facing.

Jelly Roll shared his thoughts on how fame and body image connect, saying he believes people who achieve a high level of success often feel embarrassed when they lose weight.

People often feel deeply embarrassed after significant weight loss, leading them to withdraw from social situations. When they re-emerge, they struggle to adjust to how others perceive their new appearance and have to learn how to navigate the world again.

‘I wanted to lose it in front of everybody. I wanted to talk about it.’
