I’m A Celeb jungle rocked by a huge thunderstorm as contestants endure a wet first night in camp

They’re facing a tough two weeks with limited food, having to complete awful challenges and sleep outdoors amongst snakes and spiders.

The massive thunderstorm that’s hit Australia’s Gold Coast and the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle is making things even harder for the contestants.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by who takes on new challenges! Tonight, we’re seeing a really interesting mix of personalities head into the jungle. From online stars like AngryGinge and the rapper Aitch – both 25 – to established names like Kelly Brook, 45, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, 63, and the incredibly funny Ruby Wax, 72, they’re all about to experience something completely different. It’s going to be a wild ride for all of them!

A relentless thunderstorm pounded the camp for hours. Because a stream runs through the area and tends to flood, the camp isn’t well-suited for wet conditions.

ITV show producers were really hoping for good weather this year, as rain can negatively impact the spirits of the contestants, who often spend long periods huddled in the Bush Telegraph to escape Australia’s storms.

In 2023, Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of Britney Spears, left a show because the constant rain was causing her back pain.

She was followed shortly by food critic, Grace Dent, who also flew home due to low morale.

No one quit the show last year, although the camp experienced the heaviest rainfall in the 22-year history of the ITV program.

According to a source close to the show, the current heavy rainfall is causing major problems for the jungle camp. They explained that the conditions become truly unpleasant for everyone involved, negatively impacting both morale and the show itself.

Last year, Love Island’s Maura Higgins revealed she had been forced to sleep in the rain, describing her bed as completely soaked.

Oti Mabuse, from Strictly Come Dancing, mentioned that the continued rain in camp is bringing everyone down.

Although the weather is predicted to be sunnier this year, things aren’t starting well for the latest group of celebrities.

Kelly Brook recently shared what she’s most afraid of about being on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ – and surprisingly, it’s not the scary challenges!

The popular ITV reality show, hosted by Ant and Dec, is back on Sunday, and this year it’s filmed in Australia again.

Kelly, 45, previously said she’d never be on the show, but her husband, Jeremy Parisi, changed her mind. Now, she’s already starting to worry about having to go without food.

She admitted to Heart Radio’s Jason King that being hungry makes her easily irritated, explaining, ‘I just don’t feel like myself when I haven’t eaten.’

Jason chuckled and playfully said, “You get like this around 5:50 PM – and you can’t just order food delivery in there!”

Food is always in short supply at camp. Contestants mostly eat small servings of beans and rice, and only get more to eat if they win challenges.

James Haskell, who was on the show previously, has said being on camp was like ‘starvation’ and that he was so tired he could barely get out of bed.

Although Kelly is concerned about finding enough food, she confessed she’s still very afraid of the large, unpredictable spiders.

As a lifestyle expert, I often hear about the unexpected challenges people face when dealing with unpredictable situations. One woman I spoke with perfectly captured it – she said it’s like you never know what’s going to come up next! And on top of that, sometimes the simplest things, like being able to maintain basic hygiene, become incredibly difficult. It really highlights how quickly life can change and how important it is to be prepared for anything.
