Even before its release, Wicked: For Good – the second half of the story about Elphaba and Glinda in Oz – is already selling incredibly well. It’s broken box office records again, ahead of its release next week.
I was so excited when I heard this movie broke the record for the most tickets pre-sold in a single day for 2025! Fandango even said it was one of the top 10 movies ever to sell that many tickets before its release – that’s huge!
The movie is now confirmed to have the best pre-sale ticket numbers of any PG-rated film ever.

So, I’ve been keeping track of the box office, and it’s pretty wild! The biggest movies this year, at least in English-speaking markets, have been the new Lilo & Stitch remake – it’s made over a billion dollars! – followed by A Minecraft Movie, which is sitting at almost a billion, and then Jurassic World Rebirth with around $868 million. Seriously, a Minecraft movie doing that well is kinda crazy!
Honestly, all the movies everyone’s talking about don’t even compare to how huge Ne Zha 2 has been in China – it’s made over 2.2 billion dollars! And get this – Michelle Yeoh, who you probably know from Wicked, actually does the English dubbing for it.
The film’s massive box office success feels unbeatable, but is a follow-up musical likely to surpass other movies currently in theaters?
The first movie earned $756 million, so For Good has a tough challenge ahead if it wants to surpass Jurassic World. However, there’s a lot of excitement building around it.

Honestly, I was blown away by For Good! It feels even more magical than the original Wicked. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are absolutely incredible – they’ve really grown into their roles. And the new songs? They fit in perfectly with all the ones I already know and love. It just feels like a more complete and powerful story now.
