Marissa Bode, Ariana Grande’s co-star in the upcoming movie Wicked, has spoken out about a fan unexpectedly approaching and confronting the singer this week.
A 32-year-old pop singer was overwhelmed by an overly enthusiastic fan while attending the Singapore premiere of the movie Wicked: For Good on Thursday.
After what happened, 25-year-old Marissa shared a video on TikTok criticizing fans for not respecting people’s privacy.
The actress portraying Nessarose Thropp in the upcoming Wicked movies started a video by sharing quotes from those who excuse the behavior of extreme fans.
‘”But they’re a fan!’ Okay. Then they’re a fan and a loser,’ she stated.
She also mentioned she’d brought up the idea of ‘parasocial relationships’ before, particularly how they can manifest at events like concerts, or when public figures are being targeted by disruptive behavior – like people throwing things onstage during a performance.

Marissa wrote in the caption of her short TikTok video, ‘Just to be clear, this happens to a lot of women in Hollywood.’
The person who rushed towards Ariana Grande has been identified as Johnson Wen, who uses the Instagram handle @PyjamaMann.
His profile features videos showing him running onto stage during concerts by artists like Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers.
After his protest on Thursday, a Singapore court has charged him with creating a public disturbance, as reported by the BBC.
In her video response, Marissa explained that this situation is exactly why she believes social media often reveals the negative side of people.
So, you got the attention you wanted – the views and likes. But did you ever stop to think about the harm you caused? Someone felt really unsafe because of your actions, and it doesn’t seem like you even care.
She emphasized about Johnson, ‘You’re a bad person.’
In the recording, the actress also stated she doesn’t believe anyone – especially someone who has been harmed – should be expected to react gently or politely.
She added, ‘And to expect that makes you a weirdo also.’
Marissa pointed out that women in the public spotlight generally respond with kindness because they understand the negative consequences of not doing so.

Ariana seems to be moving on well, posting pictures from the Singapore red carpet on Instagram Friday morning.
She shared the post with a message saying ‘thank you, Singapore ♡ we love you,’ and didn’t mention the upsetting incident that had occurred.
Marissa’s TikTok has so far collected over 213,000 likes — more than her 197,000 follower count.
After her video went viral, she posted again, this time calling out singer Chappell Roan and actress Rachel Zegler as examples of women who frequently face criticism for voicing their opinions against overly enthusiastic fans.
Look, as a true fan, I believe it’s so important to remember these are people we’re talking about, not objects. They don’t exist to fulfill our every expectation or give us their whole selves. Honestly, if you can’t respect that basic human decency, you’re not really part of the fandom, in my opinion.
‘[You are] someone who’s entitled that desperately needs to be brought back down to Earth.’
