Optimizations coming with the Wuthering Waves Version 2.8 update
I’m really excited about the WuWa 2.8 update! Besides all the new stuff, they’ve also been working on making the game run smoother and be more enjoyable overall. Here’s what I’ve heard are the biggest changes they’ve made to improve how the game plays.
Performance Optimizations
After updating to version 2.8, ray tracing will put less strain on your graphics card with the same settings, leading to better game performance when it’s turned on.
We’re improving the lighting in some areas to make the game even more visually stunning. We’re also adding support for a technology called DFAO on PCs, which will create more realistic and natural lighting effects.
Echo Absorption
After the Version 2.8 update, you’ll be able to collect all nearby Echoes with a single click. We’re also adding a “Main Echo” slot to the Echo suggestions menu, making it easier to manage your Echoes.
Upgrade Materials Management
We’re adding an “Auto Supplement” button to the menus for upgrading Resonators, Weapons, and Skills. If you don’t have enough upgrade materials, this button will take you to a screen where you can easily see what’s missing and use options like Synthesis, Conversion, or Supply Packs to get them. When using Synthesis, the system will automatically look for lower-rarity materials and Supply Packs to fill any gaps in your material list, ensuring you have everything you need.
Better Combat Experience
We’re updating the Guidebook to make it easier to use. The tabs will be rearranged so you can quickly find information on Recurring Challenges and farming locations. We’re also adding more details to the Recurring Challenges section, like how much time is left and your progress, so you can easily keep track of things. When you start a “Tactical Hologram: Phantom Pain” challenge again, your Resonators will now have full stamina. Finally, we’re improving the Boss Challenges experience: after finishing or leaving a challenge, you’ll see a “Restart” button instead of the “Cancel” button.
Auto Mute
We’re adding a new setting for PC players using Windows: “Mute when Game is in the Background.” When turned on, this will automatically silence the game if you switch to other applications or minimize it.
Although the list of changes is short, the updated system will affect how you play, so it’s worth checking out.
Havoc Bane
Certain Havoc attacks can inflict a status effect called Havoc Bane on enemies. While Havoc Bane is active, the enemy’s defense is lowered. This effect can stack up to three times, and each stack reduces the enemy’s defense by 2%.
Fusion Burst
Certain Fusion attacks can build up a ‘Fusion Burst’ effect on enemies. If enough stacks of Fusion Burst accumulate – up to a maximum of 10 – they’ll all detonate, causing an explosion that deals Fusion damage to nearby enemies. The more stacks, the more powerful the explosion.
Glacio Chafe
Certain attacks will inflict ‘Glacio Chafe’ on enemies, causing Glacio damage. This effect can stack up to 10 times, increasing the damage with each stack. Each stack also slows the target’s movement speed. If an enemy reaches the maximum number of Glacio Chafe stacks, they will be frozen, and the stacks will disappear. It will be difficult to break free from the frozen state.
Electro Flare
Certain Electro attacks can apply a stacking effect called Electro Flare to enemies. While Electro Flare is active, it repeatedly deals Electro damage. Each time the enemy is damaged, half of the Electro Flare stacks are removed. Electro Flare can stack up to 10 times, with more stacks meaning higher damage. Once Electro Flare reaches its maximum of 10 stacks, any further stacks become Electro Rage. Electro Rage boosts the damage of the next Electro Flare burst and is consumed after being triggered. Like Electro Flare, Electro Rage can stack up to 10 times, further increasing the damage of Electro Flare.
New Contents
There will be three new contents in the 2.8 update. Here’s an overview of them:
- Stranger Things in Honami: After the end of Honami’s City looping crisis, Namipon from Shashou Cafe contacts you to request your and Chisa’s help in investigating a series of strange occurrences throughout Honami City. Assist Namipon with the investigation while also gathering supplies to renovate Shashou Cafe.
- Tactical Simulacra: Off Tune: With your help, the Tactical Simulacra has achieved initial success. The Academy has managed to measure the Tunability of Tacet Discord frequencies. Disrupting their Tunability would mean a lethal blow to them…
- Lollo Campaign: Rising Anew: Maji, the idea king, is back with yet another new campaign. This time, he’s riding the tech wave and trying to create his very own smart assistant, Lollo Genie. Interact with adorable Echoes and submit their behavioural data to Maji to collect Lollo Stamps and participate in the thrilling lottery!
New Regions
Chronorift Metropolis

The city is in ruins, preserved like a piece of amber within the Sonoro desert. What were once busy streets are now covered in overgrown grass, and the lower roads have been claimed by the sea. A mournful sound, the Lament, echoes on repeat, and the very fabric of time and space seems broken. Yet, this scene feels strangely still, as if frozen in a timeless, silent moment.
New Outfit
- Zani Deluxe Outfit: Downtown Repose
That is all from the Wuthering Waves version 2.8 update coming soon.
