‘Troll Most Hated’ who accosted Ariana Grande in Singapore charged as a public nuisance

Sometimes a person needs to find a new hobby — one that doesn’t involve terrifying celebrities.

A man from Australia has been accused of disturbing the peace after running towards and embracing Ariana Grande at the Singapore premiere of “Wicked: For Good” on Thursday, according to the BBC.

Following the bombing at her concert in Manchester, England – which tragically killed 22 people and injured at least 59 – Ariana Grande has reportedly returned to her home in Florida.

Videos of the incident show a man jumping over a barrier and running towards Ariana Grande as she greeted fans on a red carpet premiere. He then grabbed her neck and shoulders before turning to smile for the cameras. Cynthia Erivo, who was walking with Grande and other stars like Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh, quickly stepped in front of Grande and appeared to yell at the man.

Security removed a man who had approached the actress playing Glinda in the upcoming “Wicked” films, leaving her very upset. The BBC identified the man as 26-year-old Johnson Wen, who was arrested and later released. He faces a potential fine of over $1,500 if found guilty.

Wen, known as Pyjama Man on Instagram, deliberately crashes events and has famously interrupted performances by stars like Katy Perry and The Weeknd. He’s been removed from a Paris Olympics event by security and has repeatedly run onto soccer fields during important games. Wen proudly shares news articles about his antics on Instagram, even calling himself the “Troll Most Hated.”

A video of the incident is available on Wen’s Instagram, where he boldly posted, “Dear Ariana Grande, Thank You for letting me jump on the yellow carpet with you.”

Cynthia Erivo knows who she is and owns it proudly — as does her ‘Wicked’ character Elphaba

One person commented under the video, saying, “You actually attacked her and then posted it? You should be in jail—there’s something seriously wrong with you.”

Someone else strongly criticized the behavior, writing, “Congratulations. You turned what should have been a special premiere into a worldwide example of your inability to act like a mature adult. … Forcibly approaching someone – especially someone who has experienced severe trauma – isn’t a joke or a stunt. It’s shameful, dangerous, and demonstrates a complete disregard for personal boundaries, safety, and common courtesy.”

After praising Erivo for responding quickly, the second commenter finished by saying that she hadn’t received attention, but rather had her behavior revealed – as thoughtless, insensitive, and lacking understanding of how her actions would affect someone who had already experienced trauma.

So, if you were hoping to be remembered, well, you’ve succeeded. Unfortunately, it’s for all the wrong reasons, and nobody is impressed.

Paul Tazewell, known for his costume work on productions like ‘The Wiz’ (four times!), ‘Hamilton,’ and the 2021 remake of ‘West Side Story,’ took on the challenge of creating costumes for this large-scale project.

Someone commented on Instagram, asking why a particular user was still able to post videos appearing to show him attacking or harassing others. They described the content as upsetting, offensive, and illegal, and asked Instagram to remove his account.

Grande has not commented publicly on the incident.

As a huge fan of ‘Wicked,’ I’m thrilled to hear the New York City premiere is happening on Monday! And even better, the second part of the movie – the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway show – is hitting theaters nationwide on November 21st. I’ve been waiting for this for ages!
