The hit movie Freakier Friday, which earned $153 million in theaters this summer, is now the most popular title on Disney+. This sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday brings back Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as Tess and Anna Coleman for a new, funny story about switching bodies, and features some new characters as well.
When Freakier Friday was released, critics and audiences both loved it. It currently has a 74% ‘Fresh’ rating from critics and a 91% ‘Hot’ rating from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. As of today, Disney+ has several Lindsay Lohan films in its worldwide Top 10. Besides the recent hit, Freakier Friday, Freaky Friday is currently at Number 6, Life-Size (from 2000) is at Number 8, and the classic The Parent Trap (1998) is also popular. All three films are appearing on top charts in multiple countries.
It’s no surprise Freakier Friday quickly became popular on Disney+, considering how well it did in cinemas. The movie earned $45 million worldwide during its opening weekend, making it the biggest opening weekend ever for a PG-rated film in August. It held the number two spot for two weeks, following Weapons.
The sequel is a huge success, even after leaving theaters, as shown by its strong performance on Disney+. Great reviews and enthusiastic audiences have quickly drawn in a lot of viewers, and the return of Curtis and Lohan is a major reason for its popularity.
