This paternity scandal has been full of surprises over the last sixteen months, with revelations coming as quickly as they did on the reality show, The Traitors.
Yet the question remains: just who is the father of Charlotte Chilton’s baby?
Charlotte, a brunette recruitment consultant, competed on the second season of The Traitors. As one of the ‘Faithful’ contestants, she was eliminated in episode nine.
Following the show, the 32-year-old woman met singer Conor Maynard and became pregnant in January 2024.
She insists her daughter Penelope, now 13 months, is a result of their one-night stand.
This situation was already incredibly complicated. Charlotte was separated from his wife, Laura, but she insisted their marriage hadn’t ended when he had the affair.
Considering Charlotte and Laura had already struggled with getting pregnant, including a previous unsuccessful IVF treatment after seven years together, it’s understandable why their emotions quickly became intense.
Things got more complicated when Charlotte consented to paternity tests for Penelope in both March and August of this year.
I just… I can’t believe it! Even with two DNA tests proving Conor wasn’t the dad, Charlotte still goes on and on about him being the father of her little girl, calling her a ‘miracle’ baby! Conor posted a message online, claiming that Charlotte’s baby’s father was actually her close friend and co-star on the show Traitors, Jonny Holloway, a former soldier.
Initially, 33-year-old Jonny avoided answering directly whether he could be the girl’s father, preferring to handle the matter privately to protect Penelope.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Jonny admitted that he and Charlotte did have a sexual relationship.
Additionally, Jonny requested a DNA test from Charlotte, but she’s now refusing to take it and won’t talk to him about it. She insists she never slept with him.

Jonny, a veteran of the Royal Lancers, gained respect for his courage and honesty in sharing his experiences after serving in Afghanistan in 2013.
He was riding in the front vehicle of a patrol when it hit an explosive, in an area known to be controlled by the Taliban.
After three years, he had to have his leg amputated below the knee, and he was later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Oh my god, it’s just… heartbreaking. Jonny didn’t just break his leg, you know? He lost the sight in one eye, and the brain injury he sustained… it messes with his memory and makes it so hard for him to focus. He’s been so brave talking about how much he’s struggled with his mental health since everything happened, and he’s opened up about battling alcohol dependence too. It’s just… everything he’s been through. I just feel for him so much.
He spoke openly about how deeply affected he was by recent events, admitting he felt incredibly vulnerable. Remarkably, he shared this while also revealing he’s a veteran who survived an explosion in Afghanistan.
It’s not immediately obvious why Charlotte is hesitant about Jonny taking a DNA test to prove who her baby’s father is. However, some people think she secretly hopes popular singer Conor is actually the father.
The details of the night she and Jonny spent together are, sadly, rather unedifying.
He explained that last March, after going out, some people came back to his house, and he had been drinking heavily. He acknowledges that something happened and understands the other person involved was sober.
If I thought I might be the father, I would have said something definitive. I was heavily intoxicated that night and my memory is hazy, so I can’t recall the details precisely, but I’m certain something happened between us.
I’ve told her I really want to take a DNA test, just to get some answers. Honestly, if there was even a chance I could be someone’s dad, I’d need to know for sure and put everything to rest. That’s just how I feel about it – I need to be certain.
He explained that he asked Charlotte, “We both understand what occurred, right? Perhaps we should do a DNA test to address the situation.”
She initially agreed, but I haven’t been able to confirm details with her. I haven’t heard back since I tried to arrange things, so I’m not sure where we stand.
Lauren Ward, Jonny’s ex-wife and the mother of his children, appears to have a clear understanding of what happened.
She was the one who messaged Conor Maynard, accusing him of having a simultaneous affair with Charlotte and her husband.
The couple had already broken up before filming started on The Traitors, and Jonny is confused about how she found out what happened that night.
Then, Conor posted a video to his 2.8 million Instagram followers suggesting Jonny might be the father.
Having been backed into a corner, Jonny now feels he has no choice but to publicly speak out.
Conor hasn’t contacted me directly. I was really surprised by everything that happened, and honestly, I would have handled the situation much differently if I were him. I don’t think it should have been shared publicly.
He says he feels ‘betrayed’ by his ex wife’s actions.
‘I’ve just tried to be a good dad,’ he says. ‘I’ve tried to get on and deal with my trauma.’
Jonny, who now supports military charities such as Hounds For Heroes, first met Charlotte at a train station in the Scottish Highlands when they were beginning to film The Traitors, a show that aired in January 2024.
He remembered that he and Charlotte had a fun time, and the atmosphere was lighthearted, with a lot of joking and flirting.
I’ve told Charlotte repeatedly that I don’t want a romantic relationship. I had just gotten out of a difficult breakup and wasn’t looking for anything serious.
I’m friendly with everyone, and we all connected really well. We’ve all kept in contact since filming wrapped up.
Jonny appears to be going through a difficult time. Despite having friends and family to lean on, he’s still dealing with health problems, and now he’s also facing a lot of negative attention online.
I really do try to stay positive, but living with PTSD means it’s a constant challenge. Some days are much harder than others, and when I’m struggling, I remind myself that things will eventually get better.
Given two DNA tests have ruled him out, how can Charlotte think Conor – who just got engaged to Kitty Bertrand – is the father of her baby?
She told The Sun that a rare medical condition might explain the situation, stating, ‘I’ve done a lot of research trying to figure this out, and I’m certain Conor is the only one who could be my daughter’s father.’
After talking with doctors, it seems I may have been pregnant with twins, but unfortunately lost one very early in the pregnancy.
Sometimes, unusual genetics can occur, like a condition called chimerism. This means a twin might have absorbed some of the other twin’s DNA early in development, potentially making it impossible to identify the father in a standard paternity test.
Chimerism happens when an individual has cells with different genetic makeups – essentially, they have two sets of DNA within their system.
It can occur through natural processes like a twin pregnancy, where two fertilised eggs fuse.
Charlotte mentioned that twins are common in her family, so she wouldn’t be surprised if Penelope had a twin sibling.
Jonny believes it’s important for everyone involved, especially Penelope, that her child learns who her father is.
