Story Highlights

  • Minecraft Blast introduces match puzzles to the iconic blocky universe, currently in early development.

  • More regions will be added later, and the team plans to expand to more mobile platforms in future tests.

King, the company behind the popular game Candy Crush Saga, has started testing a new puzzle game called Minecraft Blast on iPhones and iPads in Malaysia. Developed with Mojang Studios – which is now owned by Microsoft – Minecraft Blast is a spin-off game and part of a larger effort to create more Minecraft games for mobile devices.

You can now enjoy an adorable twist on Minecraft in a fresh puzzle format

Minecraft Blast offers a fresh way to enjoy the Minecraft universe! It combines the fun of match puzzle games with the iconic blocks, characters, and surprises you love. You’ll solve challenging puzzles using familiar Minecraft elements and helpful boosters.

My friends and I played a lot of Minecraft during the pandemic, so I was surprised to see it turned into a puzzle game! Still, it’s fun to unlock and create Minecraft-inspired builds, ranging from simple houses to elaborate castles.

Players can meet iconic Mobs and explore diverse locations

If you enjoyed the original game, you’ll probably love seeing classic creatures like Chickens, Zombies, and the infamous Creeper make a comeback. Plus, you can discover lots of different places to explore, including villages, caves, and even pirate ships.

The game seems fun, with its cute characters and simple, blocky design, and I’d like to try it before forming a complete opinion. I wasn’t necessarily asking for a game that combines Minecraft and Candy Crush, but I’m hopeful it will be good, especially since the developers plan to add more content over time.

The new game, Minecraft Blast, is now available for a limited-time playtest on iPhones and iPads in Malaysia. You can get it from the App Store. More playtests, including an Android version, are coming soon!
