Ruby Rose looked downcast on Wednesday while picking up her mail at her home in Los Angeles.
The 39-year-old Australian actress showed off her tattoos while relaxing barefoot on her lawn, following a recent public disagreement with American actress Sydney Sweeney.
I was so upset to see Ruby looking so down recently. She shared a screenshot on Instagram of a truly awful death threat she received from a stranger, and she was wearing baggy grey jeans at the time. It just broke my heart to see her dealing with something so horrible.
On Friday, she posted a screenshot to social media of a direct message she received containing hateful and abusive language, specifically a message telling her to end her life with a highly offensive slur.
Even after receiving hateful messages, Ruby brushed it off with a humorous response, posting a screenshot with the caption: ‘Lol, and people are confused about why they’re alone.’
The disturbing direct message arrived after Ruby publicly criticized Euphoria actress Sydney, 28, accusing her of being responsible for the poor opening weekend of the film Christy.

Ruby strongly criticized Sydney after her conservative political beliefs made her a frequent target of criticism from celebrities with more liberal views.
I was really disappointed to see Ruby publicly call out Sydney on Threads this Monday. It’s about the new movie, ‘Christy,’ which tells the story of boxer Christy Martin, and Ruby seems upset with Sydney’s involvement, especially considering the film deals with such a sensitive topic like domestic abuse. It’s a tough situation, and I can understand why Ruby felt the need to speak up.
The movie had a disappointing opening weekend, with one of the lowest domestic box office numbers for a film released in many theaters. This poor performance has sparked a lot of discussion, culminating in a heated public outburst from Ruby directed at Republican figure Sydney.
In a series of online posts, she criticized Sydney, stating she was initially cast as ‘Cherry’ (Christy) and that the original cast was almost entirely LGBTQ+. She then accused Sydney of being homophobic.
She felt the first draft of the Christy Martin script was amazing and deeply impactful. She was set to play the character Cherry, and many involved in the project had personal connections to the story – a lot of the cast and crew were actually members of the LGBTQ+ community, which was a significant reason she continued pursuing acting. She understood that losing out on roles was just a normal part of the industry.
She’s using public relations to downplay the film’s failure, claiming it was done to please fans. But fans don’t want to support someone who clearly dislikes them and pretends to be one of us. This person is misguided and has destroyed the movie. Christy [presumably an actress or key figure] deserved a much better outcome.
Okay, so everyone’s talking about Christy, saying she ‘deserved better,’ but honestly? It’s so frustrating! This boxing legend – seriously, 49 wins in the 90s, she was amazing – she’s totally Team Sydney now! I’ve seen her with Sydney at every promotional event, cheering her on. It’s a bit much, considering what she said before, but I guess she’s a fan too, and a powerful one at that! It’s just… unexpected, you know?
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Sydney and Ruby for comment.

Christy chronicles the inspiring journey of a boxer who became a household name in the 1990s, then details the shocking 2010 attack by her husband and coach, and her personal struggle with her sexual identity.
Following her escape from an abusive husband – who received a 25-year prison sentence for attempted murder – she married her former rival, Lisa Holewyne, in 2017. She then dedicated herself to supporting others who have experienced domestic violence.
Honestly, what really bothered me was seeing a straight actress cast in a queer role, and that’s what led to Ruby making that really strong statement about how she felt. It just didn’t sit right with me, and it clearly didn’t sit right with her either.
Okay, so ever since it came out that Sydney’s a Republican, the liberal celebrities have been relentlessly coming for her! It’s insane! And now, because of that, everything she does – like that recent ad – is being totally blown out of proportion and scrutinized. Honestly, it feels like they’re just looking for any excuse to attack her because of her political beliefs. It’s so unfair, and I’m completely on her side!
She’s noticed that people now mostly see her through the lens of her political opinions, especially after she was on Saturday Night Live. This change in how she’s perceived has led to a lot of discussion among her fans and the wider public.
Sydney has faced criticism, especially after a controversy in 2022. Photos from her mother’s 60th birthday party showed hats with the slogan ‘Make Sixty Great Again’ and family members wearing shirts supporting ‘Blue Lives Matter,’ which sparked public backlash.
She posted on Twitter that she was surprised and upset her mother’s 60th birthday celebration had been twisted into a political issue, and asked people to stop jumping to conclusions. It wasn’t meant to be a political statement at all.
She later explained to GQ UK that she doesn’t believe anything she could say would improve the situation. She felt the discussion had spiraled out of control and couldn’t be steered back on course.
