Will Smith was recently photographed with both his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and his former wife, Sheree Zampino, in an unusual and heartwarming family picture.

The image was posted to Instagram by Zampino on Wednesday evening.

The family celebrated Trey Smith’s 33rd birthday with a dinner and cake. His parents are Smith and Sheree.

Will Smith, age 57, and his son Trey had a difficult relationship in the past, but things have improved recently.

Jaden Smith, the 27-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, was also present, sporting a red cap. The couple, who married in 1997, also have a daughter, Willow, who is 25.

Will Smith and his then-partner, Kimberly Zampino, had a son named Trey on November 11, 1992. They later divorced in 1995.

In a photo, Smith smiled brightly while standing with Sheree and their son, Trey.

A subsequent photo showed Trey with his arms around his dad and little brother.

Smith joined the other partygoers in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Trey, who was standing beside a two-tiered cake decorated with a Las Vegas sign.

The party looked like it had a casino theme, with playing cards on one table and oversized, bright dice close by.

The camera swept across the room, showing Trey surrounded by his closest friends and family as they celebrated this important occasion.

Sheree wrote in the Instagram post’s caption: ‘Happy 33rd birthday! You’re such a wonderful and kind person!’

Smith was first married to Sheree in 1992, but they divorced three years later in 1995.

Following in his father’s career path, Trey famously appeared alongside Smith in the music video for Smith’s 1998 hit song, “Just The Two Of Us.”

He also starred alongside his famous father in two episodes of the series All Of Us back in 2003. 

The actor, known for his role in Men In Black, has talked before about working to rebuild his connection with his oldest child after they spent time together again.

After his divorce from Zampino, Smith revealed in 2018 that he and Trey had faced difficulties for a long time, but they had since rebuilt their relationship.

The Hollywood star shared an Instagram post at the time as they attended F1 in Abu Dhabi. 

Things weren’t always good between Trey and me. We had a really difficult time for years following my divorce from his mother.

He was deeply hurt by feeling betrayed and left alone. It’s a wonderful and fortunate thing to rebuild a loving connection with his son, Trey Smith!

In a video posted online, Will Smith shared that he was in Abu Dhabi with his son, Trey, attending the Formula 1 race.

I’ve been spending time with my kids, and I like to take each of them out individually so they each get one-on-one time with me.

The celebrity remembered something Trey had said to him, recalling, ‘So this is what we’ve been up to – enjoying ourselves at Formula 1.’

Smith shared a heartfelt moment with his father, telling him, “You know what, Dad? I think you’re not just my father, you’re my best friend.” He became emotional as he said it, and his father responded with a casual, “Yeah, probably. Probably.”

The famous actor had previously discussed his divorce on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk show.

He said his divorce felt like his biggest personal failure. While he’d experienced other painful moments as an adult, he felt nothing compared to the heartbreak of separating from the mother of his two-year-old son.

He explained that if a man isn’t a good husband, he shouldn’t necessarily retain his rights as a father.

The celebrity admitted they are a better father than husband, and explained that disagreements often put their child in a difficult position.

The actor explained that Trey actively sought out his father once he was prepared, which allowed them a chance to mend their relationship.

Despite divorcing, Smith and his former wife, Zampino, have successfully built a friendly and cooperative relationship when raising their children together.

The actor and Jada Pinkett Smith got married in 1997. However, she revealed in an October 2023 interview with Hoda Kotb on Today that they’ve been living separately since 2016, though they never officially divorced.

She said that by 2016, they were simply worn out from their efforts. She believes they were both still holding onto unrealistic expectations of each other.

The actress first met Will Smith while working on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in the mid-1990s. She also revealed in 2020 that she had a relationship with singer August Alsina.

However, Pinkett expressed that she has never been able to go through a legal divorce with Smith. 

I promised my partner that we would never get divorced, and I’m determined to keep that promise. We’ll face any challenges together, and I’m committed to working through them.

Hoda then asked if they still lived apart, and Jada confirmed that she and Will Smith do.

In January, a source gave an update to People on the status of their relationship. 

Okay, so they’re definitely not together together, but please, please don’t tell me it’s completely over! A source let me know they’re doing their own thing, living separate lives, but… they haven’t totally cut each other out yet. There’s still something there, I can feel it! It gives me hope, honestly.

Another source confirmed to the publication that the couple is still together, though they’ve been living in separate homes for several years.
