Helen Mirren and Timothy Spall’s Christmas movie with starry British cast releases emotional trailer

Netflix has released a first look at Goodbye June, a heartwarming and emotional Christmas film starring Helen Mirren and Timothy Spall. The movie is particularly special as it’s Kate Winslet’s first time directing, and is set to be released during the holiday season.

Written by Joe Anders, the son of actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes, Goodbye June is a lively and heartwarming family film focusing on June, a mother portrayed by Helen Mirren.

As her health declines, the family comes together, with her husband and their four grown children facing the possibility of losing her right before Christmas.

Starting December 12th in select theaters and then on Netflix Christmas Eve, Goodbye June features Kate Winslet, Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, and Johnny Flynn, who play June’s children.

Even as their mother faces the end of her life and bravely tries to stay hopeful, her children are stuck dealing with minor arguments and long-held grudges.

The trailer shows Winslet and Riseborough’s characters clashing, while their mother tries to bring them together.

In a touching moment, June tells everyone, “I love you all so much, but my love for you is even greater than the love you share with each other.”

I’m really getting into this show! It’s hilarious how Collette’s character keeps blaming Mercury retrograde for all the drama, but honestly, I feel for her brother – Flynn is doing a great job portraying how tired he is of his sisters fighting.

“You two need to sort your shit out cause you’re sisters,” he tells them at the hospital.

Like the 2005 film The Family Stone, Goodbye June is a moving story about family and illness. It features a wonderful performance by the late Diane Keaton as Sybil Stone, a mother dealing with a health issue while her grown children navigate their own challenges.

Keaton acted alongside a talented group of actors, including Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Dermot Mulroney, Elizabeth Reaser, and Tyrone Giordano, who all played Sybil’s children.

The movie The Family Stone featured Sarah Jessica Parker and Claire Danes as sisters who were both dating members of the family.

You can see Goodbye June in some cinemas starting December 12th, and it will be available to stream on Netflix from December 24th.
