Beloved Video Game Gets Disney+ Series With Title & Release Window

It looks like video game adaptations are here to stay, and Hideo Kojima’s popular game, Death Stranding, is the newest to make the jump to TV. Kojima recently announced a new animated series based on Death Stranding, which will be available to stream on Disney+.

Death Stranding Isolations animated series coming to Disney+ in 2027

At a recent Disney event in Hong Kong highlighting upcoming Asia Pacific shows, renowned game creator Hideo Kojima unexpectedly revealed a new animated series called Death Stranding: Isolations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is planned to debut on Disney+ in 2027.

Hideo Kojima will oversee the new animated series as an executive producer, with Takayuki Sano (known for Bullet/Bullet) directing. At a recent event, Kojima hinted (through translation) that the series will be incredibly surprising for fans of Death Stranding. He also shared that it will feature new characters not seen in the games.

Kojima explained he chose to create the animated series to reach a broader audience with the world of Death Stranding, going beyond just fans who already know his games.

Details about the story of Isolations are still being kept secret, but it will be animated using traditional hand-drawn 2D techniques. E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Red Cat Ramen, is now in charge of making the series and has already started work on it.

The original Death Stranding game was highly praised when it launched in 2019. This year, a follow-up, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, became available for PlayStation 5 players.

The Isolations series won’t continue the stories from the existing games. Instead, it will feature a fresh storyline centered around the experiences of a young man and woman.
