Sonny Bill Williams has lifted the lid on keeping his marriage strong.
Former NRL and All Blacks star, now 40, has been married to Alana Williams (formerly Raffie) for eleven years. He changed his life from one of frequent partying to build a stable home life with her.
Taking to Instagram this week, Williams shared a photo of the couple getting ready for a night out.
The couple seemed really happy to be spending a date night together, smiling widely and hugging as they stood outside their house.
Sonny shared a quick video of him and Alana at a party, showing the football player enjoying his food while Alana looked on.
Captioning the sweet post, Sonny revealed the secret behind their decade-long marriage.

He explained that they’ve always made an effort to continue dating each other, and they still do.
Sonny added ‘Mashallah @lanamarieewilli,’ an Arabic expression meaning ‘what God has willed,’ or ‘God has willed it.’
Sonny playfully teased that his partner secretly enjoys his enthusiastic eating, adding with a grin, ‘Don’t you think?’
The post quickly received many comments from friends and followers, including a message from Alana herself who wrote, ‘Love you, darling. Always sexy.’
Fans praised the couple, with one writing, ‘Beautiful couple. You two are an inspiration!’ Another commenter shared, ‘Making time for each other is the best gift. Mashallah.’
A third summed up: ‘Well deserved my friend Sonny – highly respected family.’
Sonny and Alana first connected in 2013, and after a quick, passionate romance, they were married in a ceremony honoring Sonny’s Islamic faith.
The couple are now parents to four children: Imaan, who is 10, Aisha, 8, Zaid, 6, and four-year-old twins, Essa and Mohammed, who is just four months old.

Williams also opened up about the secret to a happy marriage in 2024.
Taking to TikTok, the footy great said that one of the keys to wedded bliss was ‘privacy.’
He shared a secret to his and his wife’s long marriage: “Privacy.” He emphasized this by putting a finger to his lips.
Okay, so listen, he – Williams, the absolute genius – was explaining it like this: You and your spouse have this huge fight, right? Like, a total meltdown. You both just lose it completely. It’s perfect, honestly, because it’s so relatable! He just gets it.
We all rely on others for guidance and support. We share where we’re going and what we’re trying to achieve, and we often turn to family and close friends – parents, best friends, even our kids – to talk through our feelings.
After about two days, you’ve patched things up and moved on. But here’s the thing: the people you talked to about it probably haven’t. I know this from personal experience.
To be honest, didn’t you exaggerate a little when you were telling me what happened?
He then doubled down on the importance of keeping marital problems between the couple.

People might seem agreeable when you explain how you’ve resolved a conflict, but they’ll likely still harbor a negative initial impression of your partner, formed by what you shared with them.
‘Believe me, if you want longevity in your marriage, keep your problems as your problems.
‘Privacy is priceless.’
