Diane Kruger stuns in a white lace minidress as she attends the Merteuil premiere in Paris

Diane Kruger coordinated her look with the theme of the TV show she was promoting at the premiere of ‘Merteuil’ in Paris on Wednesday evening.

The 49-year-old actress is coming back to television in France with the HBO show, known as ‘The Seduction’ internationally.

Diane’s white lace minidress evoked the style of 18th century France, the period in which the story takes place. It featured a delicate, frilly neckline and a well-defined, structured skirt.

She completed her outfit with black pop socks and heels, and posed for pictures with her fellow cast members on the pink carpet.

The actress stars as Madame De Rosemonde, a leading member of French high society, in this new series premiering on HBO this Friday.

The story takes place in 18th-century France, during the era before the French Revolution, and focuses on the manipulative plans of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont (played by Vincent Lacoste).

This series is a prequel to Dangerous Liaisons, telling the story of how a young Isabelle de Merteuil – portrayed by Anamaria Vartolomei – gains influence and power.

Diane is German and speaks French fluently. She last appeared in the French film Farewell, My Queen in 2012.

The actress explained that filming ‘The Seduction’ was difficult because the script used old-fashioned language to accurately portray the time period.

She told Tech Radar: ‘It was a hard muscle to flex because it’s old French.

‘I don’t know if you pick up on that if you don’t speak the language, but it was not easy. 

Honestly, my French isn’t very good, and this particular dialect is incredibly difficult. I mostly prepared by just trying to learn how to pronounce it.

It involved a lot of pausing and mouthing words, trying to loosen up your muscles so you could speak clearly.

Since it’s a television show, the script was always changing, so you couldn’t memorize your lines in advance. It was challenging, but I really enjoyed it.

Diane acting credits include war film Troy and National Treasure, which were both released in 2004.
