Anne Hathaway got fans really excited by sharing the first preview of the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.
The Academy Award-winning actress celebrated her 43rd birthday by giving fans a first look at her upcoming return to the role of Andy Sachs. She’ll be reuniting with Meryl Streep, who famously played Miranda Priestly, almost 20 years after the original movie was released.
Hathaway jokingly wrote ‘It’s everyone’s birthday’ in her post, referencing the dedicated fans who have been eagerly awaiting a sequel to the beloved 2006 film, which became a major pop culture hit.
Oh my god, the video started with Miranda just owning the hallway, seriously! She was walking to the beat of Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ – it was perfect – and those shoes! Red, studded Valentinos? I instantly needed them in my life. She just looked so powerful and confident, it was amazing.
The montage also featured a bottle of champagne popping and flashes of a fashion show.
The rest of the teaser shows the two stars inside the Runway Magazine elevator.

As the doors slide shut, Miranda turns to Andy and greets her by saying: ‘Took you long enough.’
Miranda was known for being very harsh in the first movie, but a quick conversation suggests their relationship has become more relaxed over the years.
Andy responded with a warm smile and put on a large pair of black sunglasses, clearly imitating Miranda’s iconic style.
Within minutes, the post was flooded with comments from ecstatic fans.
‘I CAN NOT WAIT. Ugh, May, so long,’ one wrote.
Another added, ‘Simply ICONIC! Happy birthday queen – you know how this THRILLS us.’
A third gushed, ‘SCREAMED SO LOUD.’
The next movie is scheduled to come out in May 2026, which will be 20 years after the first film revealed the glamorous but competitive world of high fashion to viewers.

Although the exact storyline is still secret, sources say the show will center on Miranda and the difficulties print magazines face today.
Based on initial previews, she’ll have to reach out to her old assistant, Emily Charlton (played by Emily Blunt), who is now a high-ranking executive at a major fashion house, in order to land important advertising contracts.
There were rumors that Emily’s character in the first movie was based on Victoria ‘Plum’ Sykes, a former writer for Vogue, but Sykes has repeatedly denied this.
Many believe the character of Miranda was based on Anna Wintour, the longtime editor-in-chief of American Vogue, who recently announced her retirement after 37 years in the position.
The film The Devil Wears Prada was a huge success, but it became more than that – it really entered the cultural zeitgeist. Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Miranda Priestly quickly became iconic, and the film sparked a widespread fascination with fashion, famously summarized by the line, ‘That’s all.’

The film received two Academy Award nominations, and Meryl Streep was nominated for Best Actress. She also won a Golden Globe award for her performance in a musical or comedy film.
The show received five BAFTA nominations and three Golden Globe nominations, and it’s now considered one of the most important and memorable comedies of the 2000s.
David Frankel will direct the sequel, and Aline Brosh McKenna is returning to write the script, just as they did for the first movie.
The Devil Wears Prada is based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger and was published in 2003.
The story was later adapted into a musical featuring Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly, with music composed by Elton John.
