Okay, so the new movie, Freakier Friday, takes place 22 years after the original! It’s really cool because Anna, played by Lindsay Lohan, is all grown up now, and she’s raising her teenage daughter, Harper. And get this – her mom, Tess, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is still around helping out! It’s going to be fun seeing them all together again.

She finds love with the charming Eric and they become engaged, but their happiness is complicated by a difficult relationship between Harper and Eric’s daughter, Lily. They really don’t get along.

Things get really strange again when Harper and Lily switch bodies with Anna and Tess. With twice the confusion, can they find a way to switch back?

The movie Freakier Friday received generally positive reviews, earning a 74% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 225 critic reviews.

According to NME, it’s really enjoyable to watch Jamie Lee Curtis embrace the physical comedy in the film, while Lindsay Lohan gives a performance reminiscent of her early career. While Freakier Friday isn’t perfect, it successfully delivers a wave of nostalgic enjoyment.

According to The Irish Times, Freakier Friday is a stronger revival of Disney properties than Hocus Pocus 2, despite being a bit messy. The Film Verdict praised the film as a welcome chance for skilled women to showcase their comedic talents both in front of and behind the camera.

You can now watch Freaky Friday on Disney+. It’s also available to purchase or rent online or on DVD/Blu-ray.
