Notably, the job posting for a Senior Gameplay Programmer indicates the game is being designed for a “complete cross-platform experience,” meaning it will be available on a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, consoles, and PCs. Referring to a “close-knit team of industry veterans” and a “brand-new, large-scale multiplayer game” strongly suggests Ubisoft is planning a major, ambitious project.
Although we don’t yet know much about how Project Scout will play or what its world will be like, the fact that Ubisoft is using Unreal Engine 5 indicates it’s a large-scale game that will likely take a while to release. Given that it’s being developed by the experienced team at Ubisoft Montreal, expectations for the game are already quite high.

This decision aligns with Ubisoft’s increasing efforts to create gaming experiences across multiple platforms. Following Tencent Games’ significant €1.16 billion investment in a new part of Ubisoft, it’s evident the company aims to move beyond just adapting existing games for mobile devices.
Crossplay sounds great in theory – the idea of everyone playing together is really appealing. However, it presents some challenges. It can be difficult to make the experience consistent across different platforms like mobile, PC, and consoles, especially when it comes to things like graphics and how easy the game is to control. Still, it’s a promising development.
