HBO has announced that filming has begun for Season 2 of Dune: Prophecy, a prequel to the popular Dune movies. Cast members returning for the new season confirmed they’ve started work on the next installment of the sci-fi series in a recently released behind-the-scenes video.
Who is joining Dune: Prophecy Season 2?
HBO has announced three new actors will be joining the second season of Dune: Prophecy: Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Ashley Walters (Adolescence), and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus). Details about the roles they’ll play haven’t been revealed yet. Originally, Indira Varma was cast as Empress Natalya, but scheduling issues meant she had to leave the first season. Jodhi May (The Witcher) took over the role.
The new series, Dune: Prophecy, is being made with Alison Schapker as showrunner and Anna Foerster directing. It’s based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Returning for the next season are Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
The new Dune prequel series, set 10,000 years before the events featuring Paul Atreides, tells the story of two Harkonnen sisters. They fight to protect humanity from danger and lay the foundations for the powerful Bene Gesserit order, as imagined by Dune author Frank Herbert.
Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, Kevin Lau, Monica Owusu-Breen, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts served as executive producers, alongside Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert. HBO and Legendary Television collaborated on the production.
