Kelly Brook reveals showbiz feud with huge US hitmaker after they ignored her live on air

Kelly Brook has revealed she had showbiz feud with a huge US singer who ignored her live on air

The Heart Radio host, 45, who co-presents the Drive show with Jason King, shared that while she generally enjoys interviewing guests, one of them was noticeably impolite.

Kelly shared at the MITS Awards last week that Lizzo was her most challenging interviewee, recounting how Lizzo playfully acted as if Kelly wasn’t there at all.

Singer Lizzo appeared on the show back in February 2023, with Kelly recalling the ‘awkward’ moment.

She said she expected the woman to connect with the female audience more, but the woman didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge her at all, even keeping her glasses on the entire time.

She recently talked with JK. I admire strong women like Lizzo, so I expected her to be more welcoming, but it felt like she didn’t even notice me.

Kelly told The Sun it was a strange experience, saying it’s unusual to encounter someone you don’t immediately connect with, as most people are lovable. She emphasized how rare it was to meet someone like that, calling the situation very unusual.

It comes as Kelly set for an awkward reunion with Ant and Dec on I’m A Celebrity.

The presenter has traveled to Australia to appear on the show alongside other celebrities. However, things could get tense when she meets the show’s hosts.

She’s had a long-standing feud with the famous duo, starting in 2009. She claims they had her removed from her position as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent because she wasn’t familiar with their roles on the show, which led to a personality conflict.

Kelly claimed her career was derailed after being dropped by ITV, explaining that she was told she had offended Ant and Dec, and that effectively ended her opportunities with the network.

Before entering the jungle for the show, she seemed to be trying to make peace. In a pre-show interview, she jokingly said her ideal camping companions would be Ant and Dec, adding that she’d like to see how the presenting duo cope with the challenges while also admiring their sense of style.

In their 2010 book, Dec openly discussed the disagreement, stating he didn’t understand why she was chosen for the show. This comment is sure to make things interesting when season 24 launches on Monday night, with all attention on the three of them.

Kelly was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, joining Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Piers Morgan as the fourth judge. However, she was removed from the show after only one week because the judging panel was considered too large and confusing for viewers.

Even after being given an explanation, Kelly remained convinced that Ant and Dec were responsible for someone leaving, stemming from an uncomfortable conversation. In his autobiography, ‘Ooh! What a Lovely Pair: Our Story’, Dec recalled trying to reassure Kelly, saying he told her it would be enjoyable if she just relaxed…

She gave a little nod, then turned her attention to me and asked what my role on the show was. I glanced over at Simon, sitting beside me, and he addressed her, asking if she’d actually seen the show before. She admitted she’d only caught bits and pieces of it.

Okay, I know it sounds insane, but seriously, the last person who ever asked me what I do was the Queen! It happened at ITV’s 50th anniversary party – can you believe it? I mean, who doesn’t ask that, right? But it’s been her, and her alone. It’s just… a thing. A weird, amazing thing.

Kelly quickly responded, explaining that her career stalled in the UK after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent. She said ITV told her she had offended Ant and Dec, and that effectively ended her time with the show. She expressed her desire to have continued as a participant.

I thought things were going well, and Ant and Dec always seemed nice to me personally. However, it became obvious they didn’t want me to be part of the show.

They were deeply offended that I appeared on their show, essentially feeling I wasn’t worthy, and they haven’t been shy about expressing their disapproval ever since.

Later in their book, the pair admitted they were frustrated that they hadn’t been asked about Kelly Brook becoming a judge. Dec explained they asked two things: “Why add a fourth judge?” and “Why Kelly Brook?” But no one could give them a satisfactory answer.

As the show’s hosts, we needed to explain Kelly’s involvement to viewers, but no one offered a convincing explanation for why she was participating.

Simon made the decision on his own, without consulting anyone, and we didn’t think it was a good one.
