The 1999 movie, adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel, stars Matt Damon as Tom Ripley, a skilled con artist. He’s sent to Italy with the task of convincing Dickie Greenleaf (played by Jude Law) to return to New York City.
The task turned out to be more difficult than anticipated, largely because Dickie’s adventurous personality kept him from returning home. Tom quickly grew accustomed to Dickie’s way of life and began to wonder if it would even be beneficial to convince him to come back.
