Kerry Katona renews feud as she slams Holly Willoughby as a hot fave to host Strictly saying it would be boring – 13 years after that famous slurred speech moment on This Morning

Kerry Katona and Holly Willoughby are clashing again, with Katona criticizing Willoughby for being the leading contender to host the show Strictly Come Dancing.

Kerry Katona, 45, openly shared her thoughts on Phillip Schofield, 44, recently getting the high-profile job hosting a primetime show on the BBC.

Kerry expressed her opinion that Holly would not be an engaging host and suggested someone new should be considered to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who recently left the popular BBC show.

In her column for New! magazine, Kerry Katona expressed surprise that Holly Willoughby is a leading contender to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on Strictly Come Dancing, suggesting it’s time to consider someone new for the role.

‘Holly’s veteran presenter but for me, it’s just the same old people in everything all the time.

I know I’m contradicting myself, but Davina McCall or Amanda Holden would both be fantastic choices. I especially think Amanda would be brilliant – she’s really funny and relatable. Holly would also be good, but it feels like we’ve seen that before.

As someone who follows media stories closely, I’ve been keeping up with the ongoing situation. It’s become clear that Kerry has spoken out before about a really difficult experience she had on ‘This Morning’ back in 2008. She felt that both Holly and Phillip Schofield treated her poorly during an interview, specifically that she was talked down to and belittled. It’s a situation that clearly still impacts her, and it’s resurfaced recently as part of the larger conversation around the show.

During a live interview fifteen years ago, Phillip questioned her unclear speech and expressed concern that she didn’t seem well.

Kerry felt that his comments were dismissive and patronizing, and she explained that her speech was impacted by the medication she was taking for bipolar disorder.

She stated that the TV interview left her feeling suicidal and expressed disappointment with ITV for not following up with her afterward.

Kerry told GB News: ‘People don’t understand what that interview did to me emotionally.

She explained that even when she occasionally returns to ITV, she still feels judged and like she needs to prove herself. She feels pressured to speak perfectly and avoid any speech impediment.

Kerry described the interview as a deeply painful experience, admitting it left her feeling completely devastated. She revealed she had suicidal thoughts and felt an overwhelming desire to end her life, explaining the feelings consumed her entirely.

Kerry, who has been sober for fifteen years, claims people stopped wanting to work with her after the interview.

More than ten years after the interview, she was still having to explain and defend herself, and the thought brought her to tears.

Even after all this time, watching that video still makes me feel deeply embarrassed and unfairly treated. I’ve spent the last ten years constantly having to explain myself and defend my actions.

She said she has no reason to be dishonest about the medication, and she still feels the need to explain herself because of the interview.

During a well-known 2008 live interview, Phillip questioned Kerry about her speech, asking if she was alright, even though she explained it was a side effect of her medication.

He noticed she didn’t seem well and, observing that her speech was a little unclear, asked how she was feeling.

Kerry assured everyone she was doing great, feeling healthier and happier than ever, and credited her medication for the positive change.

TopMob contacted ITV for comment.

Phillip Schofield resigned from ITV on May 20, 2023, and was subsequently dropped by his agency, YMU, after publicly admitting to an affair with a younger coworker on This Morning in an interview with the Daily Mail.

He admitted to a relationship with another man while married to Stephanie Lowe, calling it a mistake but not a crime. He had earlier told his agent he wasn’t involved in an affair.

Phillip expressed deep regret for his infidelity. Stephanie shares two daughters, Ruby, age 28, and Molly, age 30, with Schofield.

Holly, his co-star, left the show on October 10, 2023, after working on it for 14 years. Reports say she left because someone allegedly plotted to kidnap and murder her.

The mother of three is back on television, hosting shows like Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Bear Hunt on Netflix. She’s also continuing to develop her lifestyle brand, Wylde Moon.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed last month that they’re leaving Strictly Come Dancing, sharing the news in a heartfelt video on social media.

Tess has hosted the BBC One dancing competition since 2004, originally alongside Bruce Forsyth. When Bruce retired in 2014, Claudia joined Tess as co-host, and they’ve presented the show together ever since.
