Real Steel Fans Won’t Love Its Latest Sequel Update

Fans have been hoping for a sequel to the movie Real Steel for over 14 years, but it doesn’t look like one will happen soon. Director Shawn Levy recently said he hasn’t decided whether to make another film, despite the popularity of the original starring Hugh Jackman.

Deadpool & Wolverine director on Real Steel 2 possibility

Shawn Levy recently told Collider that while the movie Real Steel has gained a loyal following over the years, a sequel isn’t currently planned and its future remains uncertain.

The director explained it’s difficult to consider revisiting ‘Real Steel’ because the film has a surprisingly dedicated fanbase, despite its box office performance. He doesn’t want to work on a sequel or TV show unless he’s confident he can do the story justice.

The filmmaker, age 57, had previously said a TV series based on ‘Real Steel’ was moving forward. He shared this news at CinemaCon 2024, adding that writers had already started working on the show.

Things look quite different now compared to Levy’s last report. He said about a potential Real Steel 2, “As of right now, it’s uncertain.” He admitted it’s probably not going to happen, but explained he wants to preserve the positive feelings everyone has for the first movie.

Although Levy has hinted at the possibility of a Real Steel sequel, it seems no closer to happening now than it was ten years ago.
