As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news for all the Harry Potter fans! Production on the new HBO series is officially back underway, and this week, the cast was spotted filming some amazing Quidditch scenes at the beautiful and historic Ashridge Estate. It looks like we’re getting a real taste of the magical world again!
On the grounds of the Hertfordshire estate, Dominic McLaughlin, who plays the main character, was spotted filming with Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, Rory Willmort as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
This location has a familiar feel, as it was also used for filming the 2005 movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Back then, it served as the setting for the Quidditch World Cup scenes.
The relevant scenes depict Harry’s initial flight on a broomstick. He pursues Draco, who has snatched Neville’s Remembrall – a magical glass ball that glows red to remind people if they’ve forgotten something – after Draco bullied Neville.
This is the first time we’ve seen Louise in the role of Madam Hooch on set. She’s taking over the part from Zoë Wanamaker, who previously played the flying instructor in the films.

I was so thrilled to see Alastair Stout, who plays Ron Weasley, on set! They’re continuing to film the show, which is staying true to the amazing story from JK Rowling’s books. We’re all counting down the days until it comes out in 2027, and it’s incredible to know we’ll be enjoying new seasons all the way through 2037!
Dominic wore his character’s signature, flowing cloak as he walked through the grounds of the old, historic place.
According to the National Trust website, the famous Whomping Willow from the Harry Potter film, The Goblet of Fire, wasn’t actually a specific 400-year-old beech tree on the Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire, despite what many believe.
The estate also served as the location for the Quidditch World Cup in the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Fans will remember it as the place where Harry and the Weasley family arrived through a Portkey and first met the Diggory family in the woods.
The tree Cedric Diggory jumped from was a unique, old, and twisted tree located in the Frithsden Beeches section of the estate.
In 2014, the tree unfortunately broke apart and fell across the common. However, people can still go to the site and see the remaining parts of this once-magnificent tree.
Oh my gosh, can you believe Henry VIII actually owned Ashridge? It happened in 1539, right when he was dissolving all the monasteries – can you imagine?! It wasn’t just some random property, you know, it became one of his royal residences! It’s just… incredible to think he actually walked those grounds!
The grounds will also host filming for several other productions, including Maleficent, Plotlands, Sleepy Hollow, Jonathan Creek, The Dirty Dozen, and The Crown.

For the upcoming show starring John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, a newly built village set was recently photographed in Hertfordshire. This marks the first time images of the set have been released.
The stage crew was building what appeared to be a quaint thatched cottage, a road, a sports stand, a greenhouse, and a small stone building.
Although specifics are still emerging, the newly built structure might be used for filming scenes of Quidditch. Other potential sets include the Weasley family home, known as the Burrow, and Hagrid’s Hut.
The farm nearby has been completely made over to look like the wizarding world, and filming is expected to move there soon from the current location in Cornwall.

The nearby villages have been redesigned to look like they’re from the 1980s. Hoddesdon, in particular, has been historically renovated to recreate the setting described in the book’s opening scene.
While the film was being made, a real estate window displayed how much house prices have increased over the last forty years – some homes were listed for as low as £25,000.
The newsstand had a nostalgic touch, displaying old newspapers. One prominently featured a joyful picture of Princess Diana after she announced her pregnancy, reminding people of the excitement at the time.
The November 1, 1981, issue of The Splash featured a photo of Princess Diana leaving an event, and reported that she was receiving congratulations from people all over the world after announcing her pregnancy.
