Chaos Zero Nightmare Memory Fragments Guide and Tips

Reaching Captain Level 25 in Chaos Zero Nightmare unlocks Memory Fragments, a key system for building incredibly powerful agents. These fragments are essential for maximizing your agent’s potential in the late game.

What Are Memory Fragments

Memory Fragments are unique items you equip to your Combatants. They come in sets and give stat boosts and special abilities when you equip two or four of them together. Each set is designed to enhance a particular playstyle, like dealing critical damage, healing allies, or improving your defense.

Memory Fragments are a new way to improve your characters beyond just getting better equipment. Each character can equip up to six of these fragments, with a dedicated slot for each one.

  • Shock
  • Suppression
  • Denial
  • Ideal
  • Desire
  • Imagination

As a player, I’ve learned that every item slot has a main stat, which is always the same, but also several substats. The cool – and sometimes frustrating – thing is those substats are random when you get an item! That means no two items are exactly alike, so you’ll be spending a lot of time collecting and upgrading them to get the perfect build. It’s a bit of a grind, but totally worth it in the long run!

How To Unlock Memory Fragments

To begin collecting Memory Fragments, you first need to reach Captain Level 25. After that, you’ll unlock the “Simulation: Memory Fragments” mode in the Simulation menu. This mode lets you directly earn fragment sets, and each area focuses on specific sets, allowing you to efficiently farm the ones your team needs.

Okay, so each run of a stage costs 60 Aether. The higher the difficulty – it goes from 1 to 10 – the better the fragments you can get. Seriously, pushing for those higher levels is worth it, because that’s where you start finding Particles of Memory, which are super important for crafting later on. Speaking of crafting, it unlocks when I hit Captain Level 40. That means once I’m level 40, I can really start farming the fragments I need and crafting them into exactly what I want, which is awesome for building out my character.

How To Upgrade Memory Fragments

Improving your Memory Fragments is essential to maximizing your characters’ potential. Each fragment can be upgraded to boost its stats, helping your team perform at its peak. While upgrading seems straightforward, it actually involves deep strategy that can greatly impact your success in the late game.

Upgrading your items requires Particles of Memory and other special materials, so managing your resources is key. Each upgrade directly increases the item’s main stat—things like Attack, Defense, or HP—giving you consistent improvements. But the real power comes from unlocking substats, which are smaller bonuses that add extra benefits, such as increased critical hit chance, damage over time, ego recovery, or defense percentages.

Once you’ve maximized all secondary stats on an item, any further upgrades will randomly improve one of those stats. This makes upgrading more engaging and less predictable. Each enhancement feels like a chance encounter – you could get exactly what you need, like a critical damage boost for your damage-dealing character, or you might get a defensive stat on an item you were hoping would increase your offense.

How to get Memory Fragments in Chaos Zero Nightmare

You can find and improve your Memory Fragments in a few different ways. Here’s a guide to getting started:

1. Clear Simulation: Memory Fragments

In Chaos Zero Nightmare, the best way to collect Memory Fragments is by playing the Simulation: Memory Fragments mode. Each stage of the simulation offers specific fragment sets based on its theme, making it important to choose the right stage for the fragments you need.

The harder the difficulty you choose, the better the fragments you’ll get, but also the more stamina it costs. Higher difficulties give you a better chance of finding rare and powerful fragments. Each attempt uses 60 Aether, so you’ll need to be mindful of your energy levels.

To get the most out of farming, schedule your play around when you need to rest, or use items that restore energy during special events or times with increased rewards. Regularly completing these challenges will slowly give you powerful gear for all your favorite characters.

2. Craft Using Particles of Memory

Once you reach Captain Level 40, you’ll be able to create Memory Fragments yourself. This is a great way to get the specific gear you’re looking for, rather than just hoping for lucky drops. You can choose the exact piece you want by spending 100 Particles of Memory, or get a random piece for just 50.

The system really shines when customizing the Imagination, Desire, and Ideal slots. When crafting these, you can specifically choose the primary stat you want by using Multidimensional Alignment Materials. This precise control lets you create exactly the character you envision and avoid wasting resources.

3. Dismantle Old or Unused Fragments

When you start collecting lots of duplicate or weaker Memory Fragments, breaking them down is a great way to manage your resources. This process gives you upgrade materials, which you can use to improve your current gear. By regularly dismantling unwanted items and upgrading your equipment, you’ll always have the resources you need to keep up with the game’s challenges.
