Florence Pugh has shared that she found it difficult dealing with the negative reactions people had to her relationship with director Zach Braff, especially because of their significant age difference of 21 years.
In a recent interview on the Louis Theroux podcast, the 29-year-old actress shared how much the online abuse she faced regarding her relationship had upset her.
Florence Pugh and Zach Braff ended their three-year relationship in 2022. The actress has now shared that she’s dating someone new.
The actress said she stands by how she handled criticism of her past relationship, even after telling online critics they shouldn’t be giving her unsolicited advice about her personal life.
Florence explained to Louis that her relationship faced a lot of harsh criticism simply because of their age difference.
I defended my right to act as I pleased, as well as supporting him and asserting my own independence. Surprisingly, it actually convinced some people to see things differently.

‘I’ll always defend people that I love, I will always stand up for them.
I’m willing to address issues and offer constructive criticism when necessary, because it’s unfair for someone to constantly face negativity and criticism throughout their life.
She went on to say that when it comes to love and relationships, it really doesn’t matter how much or how little you talk about them – people just aren’t interested.
People are looking for drama and entertainment. It doesn’t matter how strong your feelings are or how happy someone makes you; if they don’t approve of that person or if they don’t fit the image others have of you, they simply won’t care. That really bothered me.
Zach and Florence met on a film set, but they weren’t publicly connected until April 2019, when people saw them holding hands.
However, the couple stayed silent and didn’t confirm the relationship until December of that year.
The movie ‘A Good Person’ was filmed in 2021, while the couple was still together. They remained a couple for several months after, with evidence suggesting they were together as late as April 2022, when she celebrated his 47th birthday.

During the interview, Florence shared that she experienced a difficult emotional breakdown after a previous relationship ended, and sadly, she coped by harming herself.
The actress revealed she kept her struggles and anxieties hidden from her family and friends, believing they didn’t deserve to know what she was going through.
For a long time, I kept that part of my life private, even from my friends. But then you inevitably end up in a difficult situation.
If you’re physically feeling the effects of stress – like trouble sleeping, overindulging in alcohol, or experiencing digestive issues due to anxiety – your body is sending you a clear signal that something is wrong.
It’s so weird, but whenever I got hurt, I felt this…compulsion to make it worse. I remember once, I was working with something and just…started deliberately hacking at my hands, taking off these big pieces of skin and stuff. It was awful, and honestly, I haven’t done anything like that since. I don’t even know why I did it, but it was like I needed to match the pain or something. It’s disturbing to even think about now.
I was incredibly stressed and my body reacted by causing me to hurt myself, almost as a way of trying to protect me – it’s strange to think of it that way. Looking back, it’s clear something was wrong, but it’s easy to see that now.
Florence revealed on the podcast that she’s dating someone and is very happy, though she didn’t share who her boyfriend is.
The Don’t Worry Darling star was previously linked to Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole, 30.
The couple had been friends for a long time, and rumors of a romantic relationship started in September when they were spotted leaving the after-party for the London premiere of the Netflix show, The Perfect Couple, together.
Okay, so I’ve been totally tracking Florence and Callum for a while now. Remember when they were all over the place at Glastonbury? It was amazing! And it’s not just that – she’s always liking his Instagram pics, which, hello, adorable! But the best part? When he got the part in ‘Red Speedo,’ she was SO excited, she actually shared how happy she was! I swear, they’re perfect for each other, and I’m living for it!
