Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo swap their trademark pink and green looks for sultry gowns after being mocked for ‘annoying’ red carpet exchange as they attend the London premiere of Wicked: For Good

The stars of the highly anticipated movie Wicked: For Good walked the red carpet at the glamorous UK premiere in London on Monday.

Coming to theaters on November 21st, this movie wraps up the story of the two iconic witches from Oz. It’s adapted from the popular musical that debuted in 2003.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo once again stood out, but their fashion choices were very different from the pink and green outfits they wore while promoting the first movie last year.

The film has a darker feel, so both stars chose sleek, dark clothing. Ariana Grande wore a stunning black sequin gown.

Cynthia wore a stylish navy blue dress with a modern edge. It featured leather accents, a fitted waist, and a bustier-style top.

Although many dedicated fans of Wicked came to the premiere, Michelle Yeoh, the film’s star, was one of the first to arrive.

The actress portraying the villain, Madame Morrible, looked incredibly elegant in a black satin dress with beautiful lace accents.

Ariana’s boyfriend, Ethan Slater, arrived on the red carpet early, but he didn’t pose for pictures with her, fueling speculation about a possible breakup.

This happened after Ariana and Cynthia were playfully mocked by fans for creating another popular moment during their current tour promoting the musical Wicked.

At the Paris premiere of Wicked: For Good on Friday, a journalist from Elle magazine asked the two stars to describe the energy or ‘aura’ each of them gives off.

Ariana said Cynthia’s was ‘yellow,’ like ‘sunshine.’ She added, ‘I think there’s also purple.’

Cynthia described Ariana’s coloring, saying she had a beautiful, light blue tone, similar to aqua, and hints of orange like a sunset.

The actors, who became friends while working together, are currently busy promoting the sequel to last year’s hit movie, Wicked. They’re getting a lot of attention again for their energetic and lively connection during interviews.

Honestly, after seeing them on the red carpet, I just sighed. Someone on Reddit perfectly summed up how I felt – they wrote, ‘I can’t go through this again!’ It reminded us all of how awkward and uncomfortable their interviews were last year. It was just… a lot.

Someone else on Reddit jokingly used typical therapy language, saying, ‘Are we all holding space for them? Did I say that right?’

And one person observed, ‘It seems like they’ve toned it down compared to last year, and wisely so.

A repeat of last year’s heavy promotional push would likely have bothered people and might have even discouraged them from seeing the new movie.

There was also someone who inserted, ‘They’re sweet and all but this annoys tf out of me.’

Contrarily, another social media user added to the thread, ‘They r so funny honestly.’

It prompted someone else to share, ‘I died laughing when Cynthia said “ciel blue.”‘

No_Barracuda8791 commented, ‘They’re really annoying, but I find it hilarious! As long as nobody’s getting hurt, I think it’s just funny.’

In the short video, first shared by Elle Germany on YouTube, the famous actors enthusiastically responded to a question from the interviewer.

Ariana admitted they hadn’t encountered that question before, and Cynthia quickly agreed, enthusiastically calling it a good one.

A particularly memorable moment from last year’s interview with Ariana Grande and Cynthia happened when Ariana took Cynthia’s finger – which had a beautifully decorated green nail – during a heartfelt conversation.

Journalist Tracy E. Gilchrist shared with Cynthia that she’d noticed online conversations about the powerful impact of ‘Defying Gravity,’ the emotional song her character performs in the movie, with many people saying it made them feel empowered.

Cynthia was clearly touched by the news, responding with, ‘I had no idea! That’s amazing—exactly what I was hoping for.’

While speaking, Ariana became emotional and reached for her co-star’s hand, gently squeezing their finger as a gesture of support. The moment quickly spread online, and many people joked about it.

A screenshot of Ariana Grande holding Cynthia Erivo’s hand sparked curiosity online, with one user on X asking, “What was this?”

‘Is this a sketch comedy show or something?’ asked someone else.

The final trailer for the movie, released before its November 21st debut, reveals what happens after the events of the first film, showing Elphaba living in exile.

She’s still working to liberate Oz, while the animals, who have been kept quiet, are determined to reveal the truth about the Wizard—who is actually Jeff Goldblum.

A bold message appeared in the clouds above Oz, spelled out by a witch: ‘Our Wizard lies.’

Glinda is now known as the kindest person in Oz, and she lives in a beautiful palace within the Emerald City.

She is also preparing to marry Jonathan Bailey’s character Prince Fiyero.

The preview shows the citizens of Oz searching for Elphaba, and one person is seen with a bucket labeled ‘Melt her.’

Posters throughout Oz depict her as dangerous, with one specifically showing her claws and the warning: ‘Beware of the Wicked Witch’.

Glinda and Elphaba have a strained confrontation where Glinda tries to defend herself after Elphaba claims she lacks genuine strength.

Despite their initial conflict, the trailer ends with a hint of a possible friendship, as Glinda says to her with tears in her eyes, ‘Imagine all we could accomplish together’.

Viewers get a sneak peek at Dorothy’s entrance into the magical land of Oz, and a glimpse of her companions: the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow.

The Wizard tasks them with bringing back Elphaba’s broom to prove that she has been killed.
