Oscar Isaac Reveals Why Marvel & Star Wars Return Isn’t Likely Right Now

While Oscar Isaac hasn’t ruled out returning to the Marvel or Star Wars universes, a comeback isn’t probable at the moment due to recent issues with Disney.

What needs to happen for Oscar Isaac to return to Marvel and Star Wars?

Last September, Disney temporarily removed Jimmy Kimmel from his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, after he made remarks about an attempt on Charlie Kirk’s life. Isaac disagreed with this decision.

Oscar Isaac recently discussed the possibility of returning to the Star Wars universe in an interview with GQ. The conversation happened shortly after Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, and Isaac expressed his dissatisfaction with Disney. While he’s open to reprising his role, he explained that certain conditions would need to be met first.

I’d be willing to consider returning, but I’m currently hesitant about working with Disney,” Isaac said. “If they can address their issues and avoid leaning into harmful ideologies, that would be fantastic.

Isaac said he’d be willing to talk about Star Wars, or pretty much anything else, if the situation changed.

Oscar Isaac is known for his work in two major Disney franchises. He starred as the pilot Poe Dameron in three Star Wars films: The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. He also jokingly referenced needing to buy another house when asked about potentially returning to the role, a comment he originally made during a 2020 Deadline panel.

“That was a good quote,” Isaac said, then paused. “You know, people ask questions and you just answer without really thinking. I think I said something a little rude.”

In addition to his work on Star Wars, Oscar Isaac also played Steven Grant in the Disney+ series Moon Knight. He’s said he’d like to reprise the role, but Disney hasn’t announced a second season yet.
