Batman’s current conflict with Hush is causing serious problems with the Bat Family, and their relationships may never be the same.
A sneak peek at DC Comics’ Batman #162 (from the creative team of Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee, and others) continues the story immediately after the last issue. Batman finds himself facing off against Nightwing, Robin, Huntress, Catwoman, and the Riddler, all of whom are trying to stop his conflict with Batgirl. While Batgirl’s frustration with Bruce is understandable, given how far he went to save the Joker, Batman is too focused on capturing Hush to address the situation. He makes a shocking decision: he uses a powerful tranquilizer on Batgirl before escaping, an act that those present won’t soon forget – or forgive.

This story is the long-awaited continuation of Batman: Hush, created by the same team over twenty years ago. Batman: Hush focused on the actions of Thomas Elliot, a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who, like Bruce, grew up wealthy but with uncaring and often abusive parents. After a failed attempt to kill his parents – with his mother saved by Thomas Wayne – Elliot developed a strong hatred and obsession with the Wayne family, ultimately becoming a supervillain.
Although Batman: Hush was a highly praised and popular comic, its sequel, H2SH, hasn’t been as well-received. Part of the issue is that fans had expectations going in, but H2SH has also suffered from significant delays, which have made the story feel uneven. Reports surfaced in June that release dates were being moved, but those new dates were then pushed back another two months.
The latest issue of the Batman storyline has been delayed, and is now expected to be released in January 2026. As of today, Batman #163 is scheduled to hit comic book stores on January 28, 2026. According to DC Comics, this issue will conclude the first part of the ‘Hush’ story, featuring Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, and will center around whether Batman can survive Hush’s revenge with help from unlikely allies.
Batman #162 goes on sale November 12 from DC Comics.
