Disney+ Officially Unveils Marvel’s New Avengers Villains

Disney+ has announced the next big villain the Avengers will face, and it’s not Doctor Doom as many fans expected. With Avengers: Doomsday – the first Avengers movie in over seven years – in the works, Disney+ is expanding the Marvel universe through new shows and animated series, telling stories for audiences of all ages.

The Disney+ special, Marvel’s Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up!, revealed the next big villains that the Avengers will face – but in a way that’s suitable for younger audiences. In this team-up event, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, and other heroes work together to battle two classic Marvel enemies: the Green Goblin and Ultron.

This isn’t your usual comic book villain team-up, but it works surprisingly well for this crossover. It pairs one of Spider-Man’s classic enemies with Ultron, a well-known Avengers villain who will soon be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a human.

Even though the story takes place in the bright and fun world of Spidey and His Amazing Friends, it’s actually the newest adventure for the Avengers. They face off against classic villains in a playful, yet exciting, fight.

The Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! special is special for two reasons: it’s the first time characters from Disney Jr.’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Marvel’s Iron Man shows have teamed up, and it continues a history of Marvel cartoons introducing new fans to the superhero universe.

This cartoon team-up is all about friendship and having a good time, but it also reflects what’s happening with Marvel stories overall – the Avengers are getting ready to battle a group of powerful new villains in future movies and TV series.

9 Upcoming Avengers Villains

Social Media

The new Disney+ show, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Strange Tails, presents a unique challenge for the heroes – the world of social media.

Launching November 14, 2025, this animated event takes on the world of online influencers, reimagining it as a dangerous, world-threatening force. Hawkeye and the Avengers must team up to stop a social media personality with plans for total destruction.

Scorpion

Scorpion will return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to release on July 31, 2026. Michael Mando is back as Mac Gargan, almost ten years after first appearing in Homecoming, and is expected to be one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous enemies yet.

There’s speculation that Scorpion might merge with the Venom symbiote, potentially leading to a more sinister transformation for both characters and creating new challenges for Spider-Man. With Spider-Man now facing more realistic threats, it seems like the story is moving into a significant new phase within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tombstone

Marvin Jones III will play the villain Tombstone in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day series. This marks the first time the character has been portrayed in live-action. Tombstone is known as one of Spider-Man’s strongest and most imposing enemies – a powerful gangster who can physically challenge even heroes with superpowers, alongside villains like Scorpion.

It’s particularly exciting that Jones is playing the role because he previously voiced the same character in Into the Spider-Verse. This makes him the first actor to play a Spider-Man villain in both animated and live-action films.

The Punisher

Jon Bernthal, known for playing the complex character the Punisher – a figure who walks the line between hero and villain – will finally appear in a major movie role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

There’s talk that Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, will have a new partner – potentially a revamped version of Rachel Cole-Alves, to be played by Sadie Sink. His presence is expected to add a darker and more action-packed element to the upcoming storyline, and it’s unclear if he’ll be a reliable teammate or a dangerous force.

The Hulk

Mark Ruffalo is reprising his role as Bruce Banner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but there’s a twist: he might not be helping Spider-Man. Fans are speculating that the more dangerous, out-of-control Savage Hulk – who hasn’t appeared since Infinity War – will be making a comeback.

Previously released clips showed Bruce Banner with injuries like bruises and cuts, hinting that a difficult situation or person will cause him to lose control.

Doctor Doom

Okay, so get this – rumor has it Robert Downey Jr. is going to be playing Doctor Doom in the next Avengers movie, which they’re tentatively calling Doomsday. And apparently, Marvel is really going all-in on making him a villain for the ages – like, even bigger than Thanos in terms of the threat he poses and how much the story revolves around him. I’m already hyped!

This new version of Doctor Doom is incredibly powerful, combining genius-level science with formidable magic – making him a uniquely dangerous enemy in the Marvel Universe. His scheme to cause a massive, Multiverse-wide disaster will finally bring the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men together as allies in a cinematic event.

Venom

Venom is coming to Marvel Studios in Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, but his appearance will be a bit different than what many fans are anticipating.

This new animated Spider-Man series on Disney+ features a different version of the character than the one seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. While some fans hoped for a live-action introduction, this series offers a unique take. The story hinted at this Spider-Man’s arrival at the end of the first season, and recent footage revealed a battle between him and the Symbiote.

Chameleon

Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will feature Chameleon as a key villain. He’s one of Marvel’s most difficult-to-catch and trickiest enemies.

The new Disney+ trailer showed he’s coming back, along with other famous villains, hinting at a season packed with classic bad guys.

Otto Octavius

Hugh Dancy will be voicing Doctor Octopus, who is expected to be a major villain in Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He first showed up in Season 1 as someone who sold weapons, but the show hinted at much bigger plans for him, suggesting a showdown with Spider-Man is coming.
