Larry Lamb’s “awfully addictive” British thriller that divided fans gets new UK streaming home

Hey, just a heads-up for anyone looking for a new thriller! I noticed The Feud, that Channel 5 show with Larry Lamb, just dropped on Netflix. It originally came out back in April 2025, but I’m starting it now. The cast is seriously good – Jill Halfpenny, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Amy Nuttall, Rupert Penry-Jones, and Tessa Peake-Jones are all in it, so I’m expecting some great performances.

The new show introduces Emma and John Barnett, and their daughter Beth, who seem to have a perfect life living on Shelbury Drive, according to the official description.

They’re good friends with their neighbors, Sonia Nuttall and Alan Ray Fearon. They also genuinely like Derek, played by James Fleet, and Barbara Peake-Jones, despite their quirks.

But when Emma and John plan to extend their kitchen, cracks begin to show in their friendships. As disagreements over Emma’s ideas emerge, dangerous secrets from the past start to come to light.

The Feud is a chilling story of how Emma’s initial hopes transform into a dangerous obsession, fueled by paranoia and fear.

Matthew Lamb, best known for playing Mick Shipman in the popular BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey, plays Emma’s dad, Terry Dobson, in this six-episode show.

Okay, so I started watching this show, The Feud, and honestly, it’s a bit of a mess! One person on IMDb put it perfectly – it’s awful, but I can’t stop watching! I mainly tuned in because I’m a fan of Rupert Penry-Jones, and I recognized a few other actors. I’ve never really gotten into soap operas, so maybe that’s why it’s so weirdly captivating, but if you do like soaps, this one seems like it was made just for you.

Someone else said they’d seen some really negative reviews before watching, but they were happy they didn’t let that stop them. They really enjoyed the mini-series, especially all the unexpected twists and appearances by actors they recognized from other shows. They added that it was much better than a lot of other things they’ve tried to watch, and they were hooked until the very end.

A third viewer said it didn’t make much sense, and they were actually frustrated by how confusing it was. They felt the story had potential, but ended up being a disorganized and unbelievable mess.

The Feud is available to stream on Netflix.
