Shock as glamorous Channel 10 newsreader quits after 15 years

I was so surprised to hear that Candice Wyatt, the wonderful face of Channel 10 news here in Melbourne, is leaving after 15 years! She’s been a constant on our screens for so long, and I’m really going to miss seeing her deliver the news. It feels like the end of an era!

The 41-year-old is expected to have her last day on air early next month.

The well-known journalist unexpectedly resigned, calling it the start of a ‘new chapter’ but didn’t say what she plans to do next.

She expressed pride in her 15 years of journalism at Network 10 and the impactful stories she had the opportunity to share.

I’ve spoken with people during both their most difficult and most joyful times.

I’ve made friends for life and cherished memories, and the Melbourne newsroom has often felt like a second home, filled with colleagues who are like family.

I’m excited to start a new chapter and embrace fresh challenges, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Wyatt has covered major events throughout his career, including the release of Schapelle Corby, a convicted drug trafficker, and the Rio Olympics.

She also covered the case of Cardinal George Pell, who was initially convicted of sexual abuse but later had the conviction overturned by Australia’s High Court.

10 News Melbourne’s executive editor, Nicole Strahan, released a statement expressing gratitude for Candice’s work at the newsroom and wishing her success in the future.

Wyatt recently made this change just a few months after publicly announcing her relationship with David Proctor.

In a recent Instagram post from September, the woman was seen kissing her new boyfriend.

‘My love ❤️,’ she simply captioned the post.

I was so happy to see all of Candice’s friends flooding the comments section! Everyone was clearly thrilled for her and sending the sweetest messages. It was lovely to witness all the support and good vibes!

‘Okay, hot couple alert,’ her Channel Ten colleague Steph Baumgartel commented.

Actor Krista Vendy wrote: ‘Love this!!’

‘So happy for you Candice (well to you both),’ another wrote while a fourth added: ‘Hard launch.’

While little is known about David, he is an osteopath practising in Melbourne.

Let me tell you a little about my journey! I actually started my career 22 years ago as a journalist, cutting my teeth at the local paper in Werribee. It was a fantastic place to learn the ropes and really understand community storytelling.

She began her broadcasting career in 2006 as a reporter for the Seven Network in Tasmania. After that, she spent two years working at ABC radio in Ballarat, Victoria.

She arrived at Channel 10 in October 2010 as a senior journalist and presenter.
