Tonight marked the halfway point of Strictly Come Dancing as week seven kicked off, and the couples really pushed themselves to avoid elimination.
After Halloween Week last Saturday, the nine couples still competing really stepped up their performances. With five couples already eliminated, the judges are expecting even more impressive routines than before.
People weren’t buzzing about the amazing performances and scores… they were talking about Viper from Gladiators.

The star of a popular BBC family show, who is a bodybuilder known as Quang Long to friends and family, usually plays a tough character and doesn’t say much on camera. But it seemed being on Strictly changed him – he was noticeably talkative and cheerful during tonight’s episode.
Viewers were excited to see Viper appear in a video chat with Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Karen Hauer. He spoke with his fellow Gladiators cast member and then challenged Harry (who Gladiators fans know as Nitro) and Karen to a climbing race.

Fans were delighted to see a more vulnerable side of Viper when he stepped away from his usual persona to support a friend. He enthusiastically complimented his friend’s Samba dancing, showcasing the results of their practice sessions.
Fans were thrilled to see Viper smile, and many shared their excitement online. One fan even commented, “Viper actually spoke! This is the first time we’ve ever heard his voice!”
Another added: “The first time I’ve ever heard Viper speak LOOOOOOOL!”
It was hilarious seeing everyone comment online – so many of us noticed that Viper never talks on Gladiators, so hearing him say anything at all was a total surprise! It really made us all laugh.
A fan noticed something interesting about Viper: we never hear her speak, and she never even smiles. One person commented, playfully imagining what it would be like to see her smile, saying, “Seeing Viper smile would be amazing!”
Harry and Karen were lucky to avoid last place after receiving a low score of 30 for their Samba, and their positive moment might not last.
The couple finished second to last, barely beating La Voix and Alijaz, who received the lowest score of the night – a 29 – for their Foxtrot.
Harry had been playfully anticipating a lively, energetic Samba, saying it suited his personality, but he and his partner only received scores of 7 and 8 from the judges when performing to Gloria Estefan’s song.

Shirley praised Harry’s hip movements as “sensational,” but advised him to improve his knee and footwork. Craig also liked Harry’s chest work but felt his rises and falls needed to be smoother and his knees softer. Despite these critiques, Craig ultimately called the performance “intoxicating,” which is significant praise considering how difficult he usually is to impress.
Anton, generally considered more agreeable than Craig, praised Harry’s performance, telling him, “You gave it your all and I really enjoyed it.” Motsi also commented that Harry’s performance had a great rhythm and energy.
Harry and Karen have often found themselves near the bottom of the competition, and last week they finished in last place. Luckily, viewer votes kept them from being eliminated, but it’s a tough spot to be in two weeks in a row. Maybe Viper’s charming personality will be enough to win over the audience again and keep them safe.
