Rapper Rod Wave arrested on gun and drug charges the very day he earns first Grammy nod

Rapper Rod Wave had a surprising day: he was arrested in Atlanta just as he found out he’d received his first Grammy nomination.

Rodarius Green, 27, known as a rapper, faces four charges. These include having a weapon while committing a crime, possessing drugs, and driving recklessly, according to TMZ.

Police in Milton responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute at a home in the area, according to a department spokesperson.

When officials arrived at the scene, they discovered it started with a break-in that hadn’t been reported before, and then someone fired a gun.

Rod Wave reportedly turned himself in and was released on bond shortly after.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

This marks the second time this year that Wave has landed in jail.

He was arrested in May in Fulton County, Georgia, and faces several charges like aggravated assault and evidence tampering, but his legal team claims he is innocent of all accusations.

The rapper has faced multiple arrests over the years.

Last April, he was arrested for having a gun, but his lawyers say the charge is incorrect, arguing he doesn’t have a prior felony conviction.

Amid the legal drama, Wave also received his first Grammy nod on Friday.

He’s been nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for ‘Sinners,’ which is also the title song from the horror-action movie of the same name.

Brittany Howard’s “Pale, Pale Moon” and “I Lied to You” by Miles Caton, one of the film’s stars, are also nominated for the award.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Grammy nominations was packed with jaw-dropping snubs and shocking surprises.

Big stars such as Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, and Sabrina Carpenter were major successes, but some artists weren’t recognized at all.

Lorde, the popular singer whose latest album, Virgin, was a hit with fans and topped the charts, surprisingly received no nominations for awards.

Ugh, I’m SO frustrated! The Weeknd deserved so much better! His new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, was incredible, and the Grammys completely ignored it! It’s like they have it out for him, seriously! Another year, another shutout… it’s just not fair. He’s a genius, and they just don’t seem to get it!

Don’t worry, here’s why Taylor Swift and Beyoncé aren’t nominated: they didn’t release any new music between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025, which means they didn’t qualify this year.

But the snubs weren’t the only shockers.

HUNTR/X, the band featured in the popular Netflix animated series KPop Demon Hunters, received a significant recognition that excited their fans, although some believe it didn’t fully acknowledge their accomplishments.

This year’s Grammy nominations were full of surprises, with some unexpected names making the list. Notably, both Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson were nominated, making it one of the most unusual and talked-about selection processes in recent Grammy history.

Although Rod Wave was being celebrated for his nominations, the news of his arrest quickly overshadowed the good news, highlighting how success and legal issues often go hand-in-hand.
