I absolutely love how close the hosts of The Today Show seem – it’s like they’re real best friends! For many of us who work outside the home, we actually spend more of our day with our coworkers than with our families, so having that kind of bond at work is amazing. I didn’t realize just how tight-knit they were until I heard Carson Daly and Jenna Bush Hager talk about their friendship on Today with Jenna & Friends. It was such a sweet moment!

Carson Daly enjoyed co-hosting with Jenna Bush Hager on the fourth hour of The Today Show, which will be broadcast weekdays on NBC starting in 2025. The host of The Voice shared warm praise for his co-host, telling her he loved her dearly and describing her as strong, intelligent, and a wonderful mother. Their connection extends beyond the show, as Bush Hager shared that their families are very close.

Carson and our families have shared so many great moments together that my kids actually started thinking his children were their cousins! They’d ask when they were coming to visit, and I had to explain that London isn’t related to them.

It’s so sweet to see how close their kids have become – it really shows they’ve spent a lot of time together. But the best evidence that the anchors of The Today Show are genuinely friends, even when they’re not at work, is the playful teasing they share – similar to the fun rivalry between Carson Daly and Blake Shelton. Carson Daly even described it as how he and Jenna Bush Hager show affection for each other.

When the former first daughter called Carson Daly the “most fun person to work with,” he jokingly asked why she had hosted 57 other guests before giving him a chance.

The former TRL VJ explained that the genuine connection isn’t limited to just a couple of people – everyone on the NBC morning show shares a real friendship. He emphasized that these relationships are authentic and can’t be manufactured for television, adding:

You know, I get asked all the time if I enjoy working with everyone at The Today Show, and honestly, it’s more than just a good working relationship. It’s genuine! We really like each other. We even vacation together – this particular group of us feels like a real family. I don’t think viewers always see that connection, and we intentionally keep a lot of that personal side private. But moments like these, where we can just be ourselves, are amazing because it truly feels like hanging out with family.

The hosts of NBC’s Today Show consistently demonstrate a strong bond with each other. A great example is how Willie Geist responded when Jenna Bush Hager playfully called his son a naughty word on air. A few years ago, the entire Today Show team rallied around Al Roker during a health issue, even serenading him with Christmas carols at his home. There’s always a bit of fun too – even during that supportive moment, Carson Daly was jokingly complaining about Hoda Kotb taking over his dressing room to create a new closet!

Even though Hoda Kotb is no longer on the show, she still gets up at 4:30 a.m. and sends voice messages to Jenna Bush Hager. It’s lovely to think of starting your day by hearing from a friend.
